Default Just bought an 02 Wagon

Hi, my name is Matt and I'm a recovering Jeep addict (crowd murmers "hi matt"). Ive been Jeep free for about 6 hours and sold my 3rd lifted grand Cherokee today and bought a 02 Wagon. Now, Im interested to see what the Subaru community has to offer and what I can bring to the table. Im just north of Bel Air, MD.

So I just picked out a pretty nice, original 02 Impreza TS Wagon in that gorgeous dark blue. Oh yeah, its a 5 speed!
The dealer was asking $6999 and it hadn't been state inspected yet. I drove it and it needed a rear seatbelt replaced and new exhaust due to the hole in the center pipe, the headlights were also horribly fogged up. I asked for $5500 on the road... it had a few bumps and scuffs, but wasn't hatefull.... so he tells me $6800 on the road. I told him no thanks, I just sold my lifted Jeep today, I will be buying this weekend. That changed his attitude. He talks to the service manager and tell me its also due for a bad headgasket and that they were doing both, waterpump too if it needed it... hmmm so I said, how about you replace both headgaskets, the waterpump, tensioners, timing belt, and valvecover gaskets... and headlights... he says " I can do that".. I said how about $6000 even, he says $6500 and we are done! So, I'll be having what sounds like the 100,000 service done, free basically, and save myself what, $3000 in parts an labor? oh yeah, its at a Subaru Dealer he said only factory parts
So, I don't think I did too bad!
I DO need help though here...it has the spot for front foglights... after I unscrew the panel, how do I put foglights in there? is there a kit? a retrofit factory style? or just a way to mount a set of IPF or Hella 500's?
Im also looking for a set of silver or gold wheels to replace the steelies with hubcaps!

Thanks in advance!

Welcome. Looks like you got a worry free bugeye to play with and thats almost always a good deal.

There certainly are ways to mount 500s in the fogs. Kartboy made/ makes a bracket (which i bought and love). Not too hard to fab something else that will serve the purpose.

A search may bring examples.

You should ask for all the parts they replace just to make sure they're doing it.

Also, welcome!

So, I go to pick it up today.. instead of replacing the exhaust like promised, they tried to half ass the exhaust and used a section of pipe to replace the bad sections(multiple). AND they didn't replace a safety item required by MD state inspection, a seatbelt latch... it goes back Thursday and gets a new catback system.....

This thing REALLY is clean and unmolested. Original radio, and it appears to have tweeter spots in the doors? no engine mods, suspension etc.... has new Michelins, but, I want Grabber AT's..... I just need to find some 15" alloys now!

If they tried to be shady about the ghetto exhaust fix I could only image how they replaced the head gasket.

Im thinking the same thing, and Ive got no way to know....I am going to dig into the timing belt cover, see if it was replaced, and see if I can get eyes on the waterpump...
