This is tempting, and I'm off work that day too. I don't know anybody at all, but I guess most people won't. Hmm.. What is the deadline to register, I need to complete a few more things with the car first.

No hard deadline, but the sooner the better.

As long as you have good rubber, flushed brake fluid, decent pads/pad material, and an open mind, your car should be fine for this event. I've done several events on All-Season Tires in both my own cars as well as just going to Enterprise and renting a car to bring to a track event. Heck one of my favorite events was at Sonoma Raceway in a rented Enterprise car I had while on vacation with my family in Cali!

Will we be able to rent helmets from NJMP if we are unable to get a hold of one prior to the event?

As long as you monitor the oil temps you'll be ok I'm sure. If you think you're pushing too hard or the car tells you you're pushing too hard with warnings just cool off for a few laps. Since passing is allowed in all groups I'm sure it wouldn't be the end of the world for everyone else. I'm sure there will be a fair amount of downtime as well for your car to cool off.

I just ordered 2 new sets of front brake pads. One to beat up on the track on my current rotors and a set for my new rotors. I am pretty sure I will be attending.. Just a personal issue which will be more clearer next week where I stand.

FWIW, I don't think NJMP does their own helmet rentals. I believe it is up to the group renting the track (NASA definitely handles their own rentals). I might be wrong.

Yeah the track doesn't rent helmets out. Unfortunately we don't have any spares either so your best bet is to find a friend with a motorcycle who has a full face Snell 2005 M or newer to borrow.

Unfortunately DOT helmets are not acceptable. This is actually a state law and the NJSP have been known to sit in the paddock and check these things.

How about Snell rated motocross helmets? No visor/eye protection, but still goes over chin and such.

That will work Snell 2005 M or SA (m is for motorcycle) no visor needed but needs the part Down by the chin.

I thought NJ state required a visor or goggles as of a couple years ago. I know I keep mine attached for this reason, even though I usually run with it up. Is the no open face helmet rule just because of not having the chin protection?

Sorry to jump up on my soapbox, but this could be looked at with favorable lighting.

From the SNELL Website:
"DOT certification is done on the honor system. The helmet's manufacturer determines whether his helmets satisfy DOT and then claims the qualification for himself. There is not even a reporting requirement. The government does contract for some spot check testing at commercial and private labs but not very much."

I'm guessing the US government's budget for spot checking helmets manufactured in China, Malaysia, etc is not considerable.
If you need it, you'll be glad you had it.
