Default EJ255 in 04 WRX, is a tune essential?

I am considering swapping a EJ255 from a forester into my 04 WRX since the EJ205 is now shot. I am planning on using the ECU, intake manifold, TB, and fuel injectors from the 04 EJ205 engine. I am also planing on not using the AVCS so I will also be using the EJ205 cam position sensor and cam gear. My question is a tune essential after the EJ255 longblock swap? or the engine run just fine with my current tune or a stock wrx tune.

BTW the current tune is for 850cc injectors, catless exhaust, and a bigger intercooler, all of which I plan on using with the swap.

will the engine RUN...yes...

will the engine RUN CORRECTLY...no...

...basically, this is a HUGE modification, and it DEFINITELY requires a tune.

short answer, which the 2 posts touched on prior is; yes.
The reason,
You have increased stroke, so timing is now changed slightly, you have also changed bore, so combustion has changed as well.
This results in the need for different fuel maps, as well as timing for a different motor.
with that said, yes you could run the motor with the ej205 ecu, but think about it. you just spent the time to put a new motor into your car, how awesome would it be to destroy because you didn't tune for it.
just another $0.02
