I am still befuddled by..... "what color is grey?"
I actually paused not knowing how to answer that.

I'd give him a bit of slack.. he could've been colorblind... I was in japan recently with my friend who has mild colorblindness in the reds... he couldn't tell red from pink... why this was important was because the subway lines while not always in english/romanized japanese... are all color coded in every city.

It's hard for a non asian to remember funky asian names, so we'd go by name and color, he really thought he was walking towards the pink subway line when we were really walking towards the red one. They were all sort of grey/brown he said, so saying pink red and orange had very little meaning to him.

But your grey guy? maybe he was colorblind in part of the spectrum... maybe he wasn't.

Had a customer come in yesterday with his Suzuki Reno, and elderly gentleman with his wife. He was having a problem getting the shifter from drive into either reverse or park.

Wrote up the ticket and sent it to the tech. Tech comes in asking for more information. I go in and ask the customer some questions, realizing, in my head, what the 'problem' is.

I asked the customer if he just purchased the vehicle...he said no, he's had it since new.

I asked the customer if he was pushing the shifter down to go from drive into reverse or park....his response "I know how to operate my car!"

I asked him to go out with the tech and see if he could demonstrate what happens.

He goes out to the car with the tech and sits in the passenger seat. (The tech was waiting in the car...he hadn't moved it yet). The tech talks to him for a minute, and the customer procedes to try and put the shifter into park.

"See...I told you it doesn't work!"

The technician procedes to show the customer that he can do it, by pressing the shifter down and shifting into park.

"Well, I've never had to do that before!" What did you do?"

I then asked the customer to get into the drivers seat, and asked him to try again. This time, it kind of went in because he was slightly pressing on the shifter.

"See, sometimes it does that too."

The technician proceded to place his hand on the customer's and said to try again. While helping the customer press a little harder, the shifter moved right into gear.

"Well, that's odd....." was all he could say. I had to explain to him that the angle he presses on the shifter from the drivers seat made it seem like he wasn't pressing the shifter previously, when he really was.

I didn't have the heart to tell him that it was probably because he was getting older (he was in his 80's) and didn't have the strength to press on the shifter.

He then got in his car with his wife, and backed into a car parked across from him....luckily, there was no damage.

This was the day I learned never ever loan your wheels to your brother because he could afford the lift and not the new tires.

I'm not claiming I don't do dumb things though...

Sometime I hate it when the OP turns on the Subie community and enters the dark side and doesn't focus at the task at hand...

I kid I kid... Did you keep your Subie as well? Evos are welcomed here.. to a certain extent anyway

One does not simply leave NASIOC after selling their Subaru.

I did not keep it. Long story but I had a very bad experience with my local Subaru dealer with warranty issues. After playing enough of their games I decided to upgrade to either an STI or an EVO. I do love both cars. It's funny though instead of evo owners trying to race me now its some Subaru owners and of course honda's/muscle cars. They each have pros and cons and I miss the boxer sound.

Alright, fair enough. Thanks for the background info. Sucks to hear that the dealership was playing games with you...

Definitely post up some pics. Always nice to see what others own.

I'm thinking it might be time to start using my old hubs and brake calipers to build my own lathe based on how nicely these things seem to machine.

At the very least I can automate my ghost pottery wheel.

I've heard of a crankshaft being knife-edged, but a brake rotor?

I'll have to look into this mod.

Oh! Congrats on the EVO, Jdub! Nice car!
