Damn guys, when I drive like a good boy (65-70 mpg highway cruise control) I only get 29-30 combined according to the dash... and I'm thrilled even with that.

Maybe if I didn't constantly leave late for work I could improve upon my backroads driving.

My mpg has been slowly creeping up, I'm at ~6500, just had first oil change last week and my display has been a solid 33.7-34 up about 1mpg. Hope it keeps climbing as it nears 10K like some have reported. If it winds up at 38mpg I'll consider it a win.

My son picked up his 2013 manny tranny base model. Hopefully he will be as pleased with his expected MPG's as I am...

I'm pleased to see so many others enjoying the scoobie as I do. I think it's almost the perfect blend of sport, ability, agility, cargo carrying, and the go anywhere characteristics subaru's are known for. And all of this with major fuel savings, reliability and a touch of class for a reasonable initial costs. My trucks haul more, my sports cars are better performers, and my Tahoe can haul more people. But none of those can do all of the other things as well. I stepped out of a very nice 3/4 ton Ram into this for my daily driver. I think it is my favorite vehicle I've owned thus far.
All very true. The car is also free of pretense or gimmicks. No two-tiered instrument panel, faux wood grain, excessive interior chrome or integrated social networking. Looking back on the car 10 or 15 years from now, it won't be a constant reminder of the bad ideas and fads of the early 20-teens.

4th fill up with 1500 miles

374 miles on tank and it took 11 gallons - not too bad

Sadly, I've gotten used to getting less than half the mileage over the years with my other car. I'm pretty much satisfied with the numbers the Impreza puts up along with the fact it is fun to drive compared to most of the other vehicles in this segment and accommodates my surf equipment schlepping needs quite nicely.

Was that at 50 or 70 mph highway or ? Also tank by tank calcs are extremely variable, depending on the slope of the car, speed of the fill, top off, etc.

Slope of the car? I haven't seen too many gas station built on an incline...

They're always built on some slope, so the water runs off when it rains.

It's not a full size truck with long 35 gallon tanks. I understand and follow your remark about fill slope on my truck when traveling ( usually hauling car(s) to engine builder). But these little 14.5 gallon tanks are so small, I would doubt it would even be a measurable amount, much less after calculating avg

I average about 30 mpg in my manual driving in a mixture of open highway (70/80mph), heavy traffic, and side roads. If I didn't hit so much highway traffic I could def squeeze more out of it.

A normal drainage slope will not affect how much gas you can put in your car.

I'm running around 30 mpg average for mixed driving.
I could probably do better except this car is fun to drive.
The 4x4 pickup is now for weekend activities.

There are a variety of factors that determine how much gas you put in your tank when you fill up. Slope, speed of the fill, topping off, etc. For example if your tank is 2' long, 1.5' wide and 8" deep and you are on a 2% ("normal" by the way) longitudinal slope with the tube going into the tank from the end the difference in filling up facing one way vs. facing the other is about a gallon. If you have a Scangauge or similar it's pretty obvious. The capacity of that tank would be 15 gallons, by the way. That's why after about 5 fill-ups I only adjust my Scangauge one tenth of a gallon at a time. It's also why quoting the "last fill up gallons " vs. miles is not very accurate, although if you're hunting for good news you get it about half the time.

Like i said, a 2% slope on a 14.5 gal tank means nothing. I think that you should look for a hobby or something...

Getting ready for 30000 km maintenance. I have been tracking with fuelly for over 20000km and so far my avg is 33.3 mpg (best tank 36.9 - worst 22.9). Extremely happy with the results so far!

I'm happy as well. High 32's and low 33's on average running the AC quite a bit lately.

Yup, 32 to 34 MPG average for me, depending on percentage of city/construction traffic I have to deal with.

The Impreza's MPGs are meeting my expectations. I wouldn't have even considered the Impreza if Subaru hadn't improved the fuel economy via the 2.0L engine and weight reduction. Previous generations of Imprezas never even made it onto my radar screen due to their fuel economy (anything below 30 MPG doesn't get considered), so I'm pleased to get 30+ MPGs with AWD in the Impreza.
