Default 04 STI starts knocking 10-15 sec. after start?!

So i HAVE searched, im sure someone else has had this happen, but i havent found anything on it :/

My 04 STI starts up great no noise at all, then about 10 to 15 seconds later it starts knocking... Sounds like a rod knock... Just curios if anyone else has had this happen to them or heard of it and what it ended up being for them, gonna start tearing it apart next weekend to find out, i just want to know what to expect.

I had this happen with my 2008 EJ255. It ended up being a ringland that went bad and destroyed the block. I hope this isn't the case for you

sounds like you know what to expect, but you're in denial. Sounds toasty.

Mine's on the way as well. I'm just waiting for the day this happens to me.

Post a video/sound clip. There is a chance it could be something else like a timing belt tensioner.

I would post a vid, but my phones microphone doesnt work and i dont have a camera right now lol

Is there a particular reason that any of you know why bad ringlands would do that? Not saying that isnt it cause it very well could be, i just cant figure out what would cause it to start fine then start knocking, sorry im one of those guys that likes to know why stuff does what it does

It would aslo do the death shake anytime you left off the gas to park or just left off the gas in general.
Have you had tgvs deleted?

Yes i have had TGV deletes, but no death shakes, runs just fine except for the knock, at least it did the 4 miles i had to drive to get it home after it started doing it
