Thanks DH!, I'm really thinking about just sucking it up and taking the new car out to an event. The "itch" is growing worse...but I just can't get myself to beat on the car, still feels to new.

Its one thing to say I'll come out and "take it easy", but once I start looking at those numbers, its hard to keep myself from giving it all she's got. Sigh...

Warren, where are you at? We never got the full recap on your last event.

Sorry, been pretty lazy about it. I'll be running with NE-SVT on Saturday, SCCA the following Sunday and possibly even doing a Rally-X up in Vermont at Okemo on the 30th. I'll be sure to provide full updates on all of the above. Might even get my hands on a Go-Pro for one of the events so every one can see how terrible I am!

NE-SVT Event #3
June 15th Devens MA
Please pardon the *****ty phone pics

Sunny and warm, with just enough breeze to keep the bugs off and keep you from over heating in the sun. Perfect day to go out and smash some cones.... and smash we did.....

55 cars (the limit for SVT) showed up to run. Even with lunch being provided and the regular event staff being at home to attend to little their little ones on Fathers Day, we managed 10 runs each for the day. I give alot of credit to the staff for stepping up in their leaders absence and doing a fine job. *golf clap*

Unfortunatley, perfect beach weather is not ideal for running the fastest times of the day. With the constant heat and relentless sun, the tires were being pushed to their limits, this resulted in quite a bit of coneage. The cone in the first picture was pristine at 6:00 AM that morning....

One of the things I like most about autocross is the people and how positive every one is at these events. I think I only had 3 runs where I didn't have some else in the car, not to menetion how many rides I had offered to me. Some people were even stupid enough to offer me to drive their cars! (Thanks anyways!)

All in all it was definitley a good time. Saw quite a few familiar faces and met some new ones. I met atleast 2 novices who are now completly hooked. Being Fathersday Weekend, we had quite a few family affairs at the event, mine included. Have to give props to my fat old man who took his 23 year old daily driven 1G DSM to the event to hang out and have a fun. (He may have even beaten me that bastard...)

It doesn't matter if you have a 20+ year old ***** box or still trying to get over that new car smell, bring that thing out and have at!

PM me for results of this event. This weekend SCCA will be hosting the 4th Points event at Devens this year. If your there and see the old, slow, blue subaru be sure to stop by and say hey!

Untill next time....

There was a timing error on my final run, so they gave me a rerun and I ran a clean 74.XX... but for some reason it never made it onto the official time sheets.
They even announced it was my fastest run of the day and bumped me up one spot in RTA. So idk wtf happened.

...eh, I still had fun.

Got the email for the NE-SVT event on the 6th. Shortly after I went to go pre-register and got waitlisted. Doh! My own fault for being lazy though I guess.

NER SCCA Points Event #4 - Dodging Orange
6/23/2013 Devens, Ayer MA

Around 8 am the clouds began to break over the field of cars and their drivers at Devens for the 4th Points event of the season.
As the Drivers meeting concluded, the sun had already begun to beat down on the tarmac, to the tune of 93 degrees...

As we began the course walks, we noticed immediatly that the track was extremely fast. As the tires sprayers come out, workers report to their stations and shortly afterwards the cars are off for their first runs of the day. Not more than 60 passes into the event, the start is held and the call is made for a "course adjustment". Supposedly some of the cars were reaching in excess of 90 MPH. This apprenetly russled some jimmies, so the course was changed to slow the cars down a bit and the event had to be restarted, which was a first for me and quite a few others. This also caused some distain between the people that had to go out and work a third shift (instead of giving them an extra run when they were already setup to do so) in the horrendous heat and the event coordinators so that people could get 1 more run. (Guess which one of those two groups I belonged to... )

With the heat and the sun, much like last event, tires seemed to fade early and often. Tire sprayers, water bottles and sunscreen seem to litter the paddok and grid area's. Even with all the effort bolstered, we all know what happens when tires get too hot...

In conclusion, extreme heat and extra work shifts suck, but it's all worth it at the end of the day when you can say that you were smilling the entire time even with a sunburn on your face that remindes people of red lobster. So what ever you drive, no matter how experienced you are, get out there! Tires, brakes and sweat are all replenishable, but fun and experience stick with you.

Untill next time....

Nice Recap. The heat and extra course work was unbearable.

How about some photos from your last Rallyx?
