Just read through most of this thread and didn't find my answer.
Stock 2011 wrx, fifteen52 Tarmacs 18x8.5 w/+40 offset fits fine.

Thinking of going with a 235 40 18 but the stock sti wheels are 245 40 18. I see no issue unless someone else does?

You're going to run the same tire size regardless... The one with the lower offset will theoretically give a 'wider' stance and give more overall grip. Will you notice it? Nope.

really? the 18x8.5 and 18x8 would be the same tire size?

You certainly could. Lots of people run a 245 on an 8" wheel or a 235 on a 8.5" wheel no problems at all. Honestly what will make more of a difference would be the tire choice, but if you want the wider tire , it'll help you fit it slightly better with the 8.5" wheel.

Just wanted to see if you would need any fender work before I go install my new wheels setup:
Enkie NT03+M 18x9.4 +40 with a 255/40/18 tire. I am currently on swift spec R Springs.
I went with 40 because I kind of wanted more rubber protecting the wheels from potholes.

Still too tall a tire IMO, a 35 would have been better. You're going to need to roll the rears..

I have the 18x9.5 +40 Nt03s on my WRX. 265/35/18. You will need a roll in the rear for sure. A slight roll up front might also be a good idea.

I had a have all 4 corners rolled, but I am a bit lower that you are.

If you had a +45 offset so you think you'd still need a roll up front?

Its a good possibility u still might need to roll the rear fenders cuz don't forget the wider the tire, the taller the tire will be.

With my setup, I could get enough camber (from the stock camber bolt) to avoid rolling, but the tire was rubbing against the spring perch. So we had to raise the car a bit and roll.

18x9.5 +40, 255/35/18 and lowered - you will have to roll the rears. Period.

Thanks for the reply

I have 18x9.5" +45 and 245/40 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Cobb springs. No rubbing or rolling or pulling.

Thought of doing 265/35R18 with the same tire but only expected a slight roll for the rear. I seem to have enough room in the front on the inner strut area.

Rota G-Force 18x8.5 +48
Rota G-Force 18x9 +35

so they are out of rota gravels in gold in the USA now haha so between these 2 which will have better performance, +35 seems like a very aggressive fitment and since it's a 18x9 id probably run 265/35 vs 255/35 on the 18x8.5s

With a 265 you'll definitely run into strut clearance issues.

umm, height makes almost no difference to strut/tire/wheel clearance....

the only thing that will change that is how much camber is (or isnt) dialed in with the camber bolts.

less neg camber @ bolts = more clearance
more neg camber @ bolts = less clearance

It doesn't change the angle of the hub to the strut.think about it.
