Default Quick video, is this shaft play normal or not?

I think it's a bit much. It's almost into the housing. If I push it to a side and rotate I can hear it barely touching.

Quick vid

I paid 500 clams for this. I wanted a perfect turbo and the buyer explicitly stated there was no shaft play. What say ye?

Thanks guys

-Dave

Yeah it is in the wrong section.

I paid what I consider to be to dollar as far as used VF30s are concerned. I'm talking to the guy now.

I have yet to see a turbo with no shaft play. I bought a new vf48 that moved that much. Put some oil in it and see how much it moves.

seems pretty normal. be more concerned with in and out play than side to side. the oil has to pass through the journal bearing and is why theres some play there. my new vf52 i installed had a little play even.

i have had 6 or 7 TD04s, none of them blown. Drained of oil, they all have maybe .5mm side to side play. You should not have any thrust (in and out) play.
