Have you actually been in a Mini? How about a Mini with 80k plus miles? They have the cheapest interiors I have ever seen. I worked for Mini, and they are great fun to drive, but I would never own one. 10k miles and they sound like tractors.

The JCW has a better power:weight, a more sophisticated suspension, a mature aftermarket and better materials & build quality.

When the Fiesta ST was first announced the media was suggesting an $18,000 base price, and that was something to get excited about. <$21,000 for Recaros and a turbo in an econobox would be a sweet spot.
Just wait until the end of the model year. I suspect Ford will start making deals on these, unless they have a really low production numbers. In that case it would be a limited collector car.

Waiting for Shelby version

Because you like spending 12000 more dollars for a sticker and a shift knob.

A) I like how you keep moving the goal posts.. it's 80k+ miles now? B) I've owned an R56 for several years... which you would know if you had bothered to read.

Tractors? Are you referring to the timing chain tensioner issue? That's been addressed. MINI has a new engine (N18) as of MY11 and the tensioner has been revised for the '07-'10 N14 engines.

I don't get how you missed what I was saying by such a wide margin. I said the $24k Fiesta is more comparable to a MCS both in performance and price and that a comparison to the JCW, which is a forged piston, (relatively) big turbo, LSD-equipped supermini, is silly.

Both the Focus ST and Cooper S use the same Borg Warner K03 turbo.

Because otherwise they aren't strikingly similar? Both use Ecoboost engines. Both use similar packaging. Both use similar body styles. Both use electronic yaw control to provide good handling at the expense of brake wear. Both use torque vectoring, rather than suspension design, to combat torque steer.

Have you driven a Focus ST? How are you so certain they're nothing alike?

The moment mini decided to replace the mechanical LSD in 2010 for the stupid and often used Electronic nanny version. I felt heart broken. The only mini I would feel compelled to buy would have to have a mechanical LSD

Fortunately, swapping the front diff is relatively easy. Once you tank the tranny, you can replace the diff in your driveway without any special tools.. and the aftermarket diffs are much better than the OEM LSD.

WHAT? Things can be different!

I always laugh at the ecstatic hoopla of "car guys" that cheer when the manufacturer throws in a mediocre upgrade just so everyone can say they have that <acronym> in their car.

Seems like Ford is already offering cash incentives on the Fiesta ST; up to $1000.

Might be a regional thing. My ZIP qualifies for $250 dealer cash thru September.

Definitely driving one of these when they hit dealer lots.

Yeah, I guess it's a regional thing. You can see it right off Ford's website if you use zipcode 94538.

Same here. Stopped in the dealership and they seemed clueless as to when they would be getting one in. This is the same dealership that only got in about 3 Focus ST's anyways so I'm not expecting much on the Fiesta ST.

I didn't have a chance to take photos while it was light out so I found a semi empty parking structure to take a few snaps with my phone.

This car is insane fun. I loved my WRX. And only time will tell if I love the FiST just as much or more.

Dammit, I am jelly.

Would you mind sharing what you paid out the door? Also, which seats did you go with?
