If I'm going to do springs and struts, I'm going to swing for Koni's and yellows. No questions asked.

That would be my recommendation. Koni with either RCE or Swift springs.

Those are going to ride better, last longer and handle better than any cheap coil over in the same price bracket. The only reason you need coil overs is if you only care about being slammed, you live where it snows in the winter and is nice in the summer or you're gonna see the track. If you care about handling and comfort at all cheap coil overs aren't the answer.

Koni's are on sale right now. GO that route. Then piece together the rest.

Hi Guys, I need the benefit of your advice. I've searched but haven't found anything conclusive (and would rather know before the car is apart).

I see on FastWRXs website: that in some cases you don't need longer studs when using the 3/8" saggy butt spacer, but by implication sometimes you do. I've got an 07 2.5i wagon with Koni's, RCE Wagon, Com-C and Group N's going on this Friday and was going to run the 3/8" spacers, can anyone confirm one way or the other about the necessity of longer studs?

I have 1/4 spacer + rear struct bar and there are some threads left on stock studs, so I would say you are OK.
Edit: about one thread left. Strut bar mounts are about 1/4 inch thick + 1/4 spacer makes total 1/2 inch.

You should be fine.

Why do you need the spacers? The only thing I can think of is that the COM-C's raise the front of the car a little bit and you're trying to equalize that?

Because wagon struts... wagon springs... no saggy butt.

I have 2 Wagons

2001 Subaru Forester L
06 WRX Sedan suspension
Eibach Sportline Springs
Subframe spacer removal
02 WRX Steering rack and RSB
Rolled rear fenders
235/45/17 Conti DWS
17x8 et53 (STI BBS) w/ ISC 15mm Adapters

No rubbing since rears were rolled. I can tank large bumps etc. However mud flaps and exhaust scrape a bit on speed bumps. Also, no saggy butt.

2002 WRX Wagon
ISC-N1 Street Coilovers w/ front camber plates
White Line front and rear sway bars
225/45/17 Nexen 3000
17x7.5 et38 BBS VZ
Rears rolled flush
Fronts rolled

I had to run a bit of extra camber in the front in order not to smash the fenders. I rub the fender liners on good size bumps and the rears dont really rub anymore after rolling the back side of the lips more (slight pull there).

Because I regularly carry a bit more extra weight in the back and have a trailer hitch (used for bike rack). Stock the wheel gap is more in the front, and I'd like to even it up.

werd.

I'd think you would be just fine. I'd worry if you plan on running a strut bar back there. but without one you'll be fine.

Thanks, a few other things on the list before the rear strut bar. I'm excited to try out the Konis+RCE Wagon+Com-C+Group N after reading so many good reviews on here. And after 195,000km's I'm sure my suspension is pretty worn.

here's my current setup;

-RCE Wagon springs
-07 STi struts
-ComC front tops
-OEM STi rear tops
-3/8" saggy butt spacers
-07 STi Lateral Links & trailing arms (wide track)
-STi lower control arms (castor adding wide track)

Keep in mind I'm converted to 5x114.3, also I have not roller any of the fenders on the car.

The car is very poised going down the road, and it stays very flat around corners. But, if you're on a pothole infested road you'll hate your life, because the springs are aggressive. I've only had to apologize once for a stiffer ride quality in the car.. lol.

In a week or so I'll be removing the spacers and installing some RCE lowering camber plates that I've got sitting on my parts shelf.

Looking for some advice please. I don't want coil overs, and I'm looking for maybe 10mm drop a little more or a little less Im not to concerned just getting some opinions.
2005 WRX Wagon
Stock Struts and Springs
Enkei Evo 5 18x7.5 +44

Have yet to try anything to fix rub issue. (new setup)
I get rub when I corner hard on both front along the outside edge of the tires. It also rubs sometimes on sharp bumps in the rear along outside edge as well.

It's a lot of tire for wagons. Roll the frenders and you should be good.

I would go with Mach V Springs and KYB GR2 struts. My 05 wagon handles amazing and is not harsh at all. I also have whiteline sways and endlinks.

Okay sounds good a close friend should be getting a roller very soon. My question to follow that is if I did give it a drop would I need a more extreme roll or is it like a roll is a roll unless you slam it.

Very nice setup you have!

Ultimately I want to do a 5x114 conversion with 05-07 sti struts with koni inserts and keeping my rce wagon springs.

probably gonna be picking up a used set of AGXs with Swift wagon springs from a member on here, for my 03 WRX wagon? For you guys who have ran this setup, or are familiar with it, would I need spacers to solve saggy butt, or should these provide a fairly even drop?

Quick question....I ended up buying this setup, but my question is if I should get group n strut tops. Keep in mind that my wagon is my DD and will probably never see a track of any type. At 145 bucks from TiC they aren't that expensive, but I don't want to spend it if it isn't worthwhile. Opinions?
