I used to have a rep in Canadastan who bought an Aztek because he was really into weekend camping. AWD, good functional interior. We would go on business calls and people would stare at us as we got out. He thought they were admiring the car. I could tell that they weren't as the looks were more "the zombies are actually real" or "these are the men who raped our daughters" rather than admiration. Not cheap either. Mid 90's and he paid C$35kish which was still US$28kish.

I sort of like the Dodge Dart. I don't even know why. Maybe because I don't see many around. I drove one of the turbo 4 six speeds. The plastic shifter ball is a joke. What the hell were they thinking. The performance is anemic. Floor it in 2nd and you can't even feel the turbo kicking in. It feels like a 2.5RS where a spark plug wire was left in the garage and the tires are all running 10psi. It does get very good mileage and I like the styling.

Fixed it for ya'

I don't think the Aztek was that ugly... It was different, and I'll take different over bland or vanilla any day. It had a lot going for it.

Sure the Aztek was terrible looking, but even the haters have to admit it was the perfect car for Walter White. And that was the reason for its existence.

If Fiat kills off Dodge it would be a mistake IMHO. Chrysler shouldn't be left to carry the torch on its own...it'll only reverse the current course of the brand and mean they have to sell more low end vehicles. Sure Chrysler could become the Honda or Toyota of American car brands by selling everything from an entry level ecobox to sub-high end luxury vehicles...but Dodge has an established following when it comes to performance vehicles and Chrysler has been rebuilding their reputation on the luxury side, younger buyers have been very receptive to Chrysler's new direction but it still leaves something to be desired.

I am really starting to feel as if Tesla's statements are true...the Chrysler we used to know is eventually going to be whittled away to nothing as Fiat increases its ownership of the company...getting rid of waste is one thing, this is something else entirely. Chrysler only sells 3 vehicles at the end of the day. Dodge has an entire range of vehicles...although some are outdated at the moment. I'd really like to see Dodge continue as is with better and sportier products...leave the luxury stuff to Chrysler...Replace the aging products and continue to offer affordable performance in every vehicle sold or at least a fun ride.

Chrysler needs to get it **** in gear...the Sebring/200C is way overdue for a replacement and I know a new one is waiting in the wings but it needs to be put on the table. The 200c concept would be a really great vehicle to see...but we know thats not gonna happen, but its what Chrysler needs. A FWD PT Cruiser replacement needs to be delivered...it doesn't need to be retro but Buick has shown with the Verano and Encore...Americans can play in the compact luxury segment. A Sebring Convertible and Coupe that lives up to the originals would be nice as well...they were cheap cars but they sold well and offered something sporty to the Chrysler division...now just build quality versions that give people the same excitement and you'll have a winner.

THe sebring convertible was named quite possible the worst driving car ever made. They need to build a car that looks and drives like something made in the last 5 years. THe sebring when new is a rolling hunk of crap.

Dodge is sold as Chrysler in other markets. There is no reason to keep Dodge.
Viper is SRT

Trucks are RAM
Chrysler has a higher quality stigma than Dodge
Change the badging on the Dart, give it a new name. Nobody would notice.
Vans & SUVs are badge engineered across Jeep & Chrysler (when was the last time you saw a new Durango?)

I was unaware that the Avenger was still in production. . . and the Dart is $4k less.

I think they should keep Dodge around and get rid of Chrysler. The Charger and Challenger are the only cool cars they have. The new Dart hasn't been around long enough to get a fair shake. I think they did a good job with it, but instead of resurrecting old names they really need to come up with something new. The Hemi is a great V8 engine. Keep Dodge and get rid of Chrysler!

I still don't get the point of creating the SRT brand. It only encompasses the top performance versions of existing Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep models (with the exception of the Viper) but with no marketing. Chrysler already has their performance arm in Mopar. Why they couldn't expand Mopar or transform Dodge into what SRT is doing, I don't know.

If Chrysler/Fiat want separate brands for everything, move the T&C and GC into one minivan (which sounds like what they are doing), get rid of the Durango (since it essentially exists as the Grand Cherokee), just kill the Avenger already, and move the Journey to Chrysler. So then it creates more defined brands with little overlap:

Jeep: Offroad capable SUVs (Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Patriot)
Chrysler: Mainstream Premium people movers (200, 300, T&C, CUV)
Ram: Trucks
Dodge: Performance Compacts, Sedans, Coupes only and Mopar (Dart, Charger, Challenger/Cuda, Viper).

No need for SRT.

Cutting the Magnum in particular is a complete head-scratcher.

Then they come out with the Dart, and hoot and hollar about the coming SRT Dart ... then of course they scrap the SRT model for some reason, despite the fact that the old SRT4 was one of their most well received cars. What they do simply makes no sense.

Aside from that, quality is low. I took a short break from Subaru and bought a new 2011 Charger R/T. In the 8 months I owned it, I had to bring it in for 2 recalls and 2 other weird issues they never could get fixed. Sure the new tech and interior materials were nice, but the car simply was not fun to drive and seemed to have a new goofy issue every week.

Needless to say I quickly recognized my mistake, and went crawling back to Subaru to beg their forgiveness and order a 2012 WRX. I did not even care about the financial hit, I just wanted out of the Dodge ASAP .
Wtf happened with the dart r/t? They're still promoting it, like 3 years after they announced it. It'd be a nice little car if it ever ****ing came out.

One thing people forget is Dodge doesn't really exist outside of North America. Its Chrysler everywhere else.

Bigger 3-row Jeep Grand Cherokee, axe the Durango (which sells terribly and looks like crap).

The Dart would sell like crap under any brand you put it under.

Put the Charger as an SRT product along with the Challenger/Barracuda.

The rest are pretty forgettable and/or unnecessary. Pretty sure the Charger is about the only car Dodge can sell consistently.

It would be pretty weird if the pedestrian brand was axed by the Luxury brand. That would be like Lincoln taking over Ford and axing it.
