Substantial, but not unsurviveable from a decel perspective alone.

People regulary survive 100 g crashes. I think the highest recorded on survived as as much as 215 g or something.

Depends on many more thing than simply magnitude.

Here's a good article about how people can die in race cars, written by two MD's that race in Grand-Am, including where Simonsen is likely to fall in.

It is rare, though is the next weak point in the body after the basilar skull fracture, which given the rate of deceleration and angle of impact would have been likely had he not been wearing a HANS.
