Sounds like fun. I just got my WRX and I haven't gotten to take it out for a cruise yet. Can't make this one, but hopefully next time.

I'm still in. Looks like the only Legacy GT so far. I too am bringing my Go Pro. I've already toyed with three different mounting spots. Inside is good because reduced noise, but the outside mounting spot is a bit noise because of the wind.

So far, interior sunroof is a cool view of driver and half of the road...then back window interior is almost full car interior, with most of the road ahead, and I've done rear bumper facing traffic rear, and rear door window facing forwards, which is cool and all, except I might move it to my door and turn it a bit to face more the middle of the road, rather than the left.

So should I put the sealed backing on the go pro housing or keep the slotted one on? I was thinking about putting it on the windshield, outside, facing forward. My only fear is if having Rain X on the windshield will let the suction cup come loose. I was gonna drive around local tomorrow and experiment with it. Only time I've used it was snorkeling in Hawaii, so I'm still learning.

The suction cup will hold. Under 100mph, the open door will be better for exhaust sounds..but...look into a good way to dampen road vibration. Take a small chunk of paper towel and fold it so, to be thin enough to fit on the back of the casing, and close it..it's a tight fit, but it'll help reduce wind noise a bit.

The first two posts have all the details and a link to the map with the route and stops labeled, but as a quick recap:

We will meet at the Northwest ISD building (on 114 just west of Texas Motor Speedway) I will be there by 10am and we will leave by 10:30am.

We will follow the linked route stopping at 3 predetermined spots (shell stations and MSR) and we will end up at Babe's Chicken in Burleson around 2pm for some delicious chicken.

There will be opportunities at the stops for restroom and gas breaks (there is a spot near MSR with e85 for those of you who need to fill up your corn juice hole).

great call-
on long threads, its customary to keep
Post # 1 updated for easy reference

See everyone in the morning,
Don't forget to have-
Checked tire pressures ( stick w/psi posted on the door frame)
Absolutely full tank of gas and an empty bladder!
I always travel w/snacks and drinks- schedules are impossible to keep w/groups this large

Lastly, if you want to cruise steadily and calmly,
make sure you get in line right behind the leader-
for each car you find yourself following, you'll have to play catch-up
til near the end of the line, you'll find yourself speeding most of the time,
trying to keep up from turns, stop signs and not to mention, lights
Speaking of, it helps to double up near lights so you're more apt to make the light as compared to stringing it out single file.
After the light, or approaching a turn, the guys in the prefered lane then just slow up traffic in that lane allowing cars to slip in ahead of them.
Sorry for the long post

If we get stuck behind lights...shouldn't we pull over and wait for others? Or....

OY! COUNT ME IN! I know, super last minute, but I could have sworn I heard someone say this was like 2 weeks ago, so I didn't really pay attention to this thread.

On a side note
Jonathan and other Planoites, Amr wants to form a mini group from the Plano/Frisco area to meet and drive up to the cruise at around 9. Any one else in?

See you guys in the am. I'll be in an 06 silver STi, bone stock. First outing for me. Should be fun. I also want to hear some aftermarket exhaust systems before I buy one and a cruise meet is perfect for that.

Made a quick test run tonight with the go pro on the windshield. Looks like I need to knock down the wind noise.

I always use the full enclosure with my go pro (it is usually on the inside of the windshield next to the rear view mirror with the windows down).

The open back has too much wind noise. I know a number of people with furry backings to cut down wind noise that seem to work but the only way to kill the wind is with a real microphone (usually remotely located).

Anyone from Plano Frisco area.

We will be leaving Plano 9 am sharp to head to the starting point of the cruise we will be departing from Paradise Cafe on Preston right off 121 in the same plaza as Five Guys. If we miss you, we will meet you at the starting spot of the cruise.
