Question ej22e with ej25d heads

I've been told it's not going to drop the CR much at all? I would be using the hybrid Ej22T headgaskets which I already have on hand.. I've just heard at least 3 different numbers.

Someone should be able to chime in and correct me if I am wrong on this.

My calculations for my 22D hybrid puts me around 9.2-9.3:1. I used OEM 1.37mm 11044AA282 HG with 20H heads with a 46cc chamber. However I'm sure I screwed up my numbers because I'm driving it around as an N/A now and it has a huge torque and power difference when compared to the 20D that came factory in my Legacy. Then again those 20H heads essentially have V2 GC8 WRX cams in them. But I'm using a 22E block from a 1st gen Legacy and I'm under the impression that later 2nd gen 22E blocks used slightly different pistons and the phase II blocks had pistons that were WAY different again. That's probably where you're getting 3 different numbers from. I should also add that USDM 25D heads come in two different flavours, with two different chamber volumes. If you use MY96 heads you'll have a lower CR than what I have. If you have MY97+ you'll have about the same as mine.

So assuming that the 25D has the same chamber volume as the 20H (which is probably doesn't - but might do) and you're using a 22E from a 1st gen Legacy...I reckon around 9.2:1.

The engine would be from a 2nd gen Legacy and the ej25 heads from a phase I

Assuming your HG is the correct 1.37mm (.051") thickness...8.4:1

This chart always helped me out http://www.b4et.com/docs/cr_matrix.pdf

My current EJ22E/EJ25D ran a TD-05 16G @ 10 psi for over a year and held up well. Now running with a WRX TD-04 @ 15psi and still going.

Thanks for the link to that chart, I'm going to set aside at least $600 for engine management which I assume is a decent amount.. the engine and the rest of the stuff should be easy to find.

Thats not correct.

90-95 ej22e with 96 ej25d heads will be 8.6-8.7:1 with stock head gasket.
96-98 ej22e with 96 heads will be 8.9-9.0:1

90-95 ej22e with 97-99 ej25d heads will be 9.1-9.2:1
96-98 ej22e with 97-99 heads will be 9.2-9.3:1

For the emanage ultimate do they have a harness for a '97 Outback? I would assume all the Ej25D models are all the same? Or do I have to look up a ECu pinout sheet? I forgot the site I went to before but that was a little over 8 years ago.. but for a EJ18.

Yeah, that chart offers no love to the EJ18. :-(

So what about the emanage for the '97 Outback with the EJ25D any pinout charts for use with the emanage ultimate?

I'm scared to spend $500 on something with little info on which pins it goes to.
