Ah, ok. Yeah, I don't know much about testing and such, but your explanation makes plenty of sense.
No. You seem pretty sure that we're close to release. I assume since you know the release date is coming up that you know when the date was too.

I was messing with you. Unless I missed it, no one knows when the release is or even how far away it is. It could be in a month, it could be late next year. Subaru may not even know yet. They probably have a target, but I doubt it's concrete. Until we know when the car is coming out, seeing a car with a different configuration means nothing. Even then, as stated, it could be old pictures/video or a configuration that they didn't bother to change and not representitive of the production car. I wouldn't give much credit to anything except official Subaru releases at the unveiling.

Oh, I meant that since the release time frame is spring '14 (which is roughly 7-ish months away) + my limited knowledge of testing = seems kinda close to be testing with the old motor lol

The 4G63 is tried and true. The EJ25 is tried, almost true but at the end of the day fail.

So after all it is EJ from 10+ legacy with bottom mounted turbo. Might be one of the engine variants they are testing....and or they are preping another JDM vs. US market disaster. After all it didn't make sense to introduce new turbo orientation just kill it after 3 years (10+ LGT)

So I have been away long enough to miss the video. Reading the last ten pages or so I come away with a few thoughts...

Either Justy knows more than he is telling or he is just bs'ing . No matter he is being very smug in a I know a secret and I am not telling you in kind of a grade school girl kind of way.

It sounds is if Subaru might be playing around with the engines.

And if the ring land issues were just a "tune" issue and the only way that they could meet the US standards, then I would call it an engine issue.

Thank you for that. I know it's plagued all years but it seems even more so with the most recent. And from my understanding it happened more so when people tried to make more power even with an Access port which in my experience always run rich. I was told usually caused by the mixture of gas you get from a single handle gas pump. That and it was in most cases the piston sitting next to the turbo.

the EJ engine with UEL headers would explain the boxer rumble you can hear on videos.
the FA engine doesn't sound like the typical boxer we are used to.

It's pretty safe to say March-ish, unless you are wanting something like March 15th at 4pm at Hueberger Motors.

Can't keep getting secrets if you tell all of them...!!!

I promise I'll never knowingly BS ya'll. If I say something, it's because I believe it can contribute. It has taken a bit to be taken seriously(for the most part) on here. No reason to screw that up.

After that dude boasting about being driving one of the mules and posting that pic, I immediately took pics and vid in case they disappeared.

Everyone has been focused on the dipstick location and all. I noticed something else that I haven't seen anyone mention(unless I just missed it in all the catch up reading).

There is a power steering fluid reservoir. Is there not going to be EPAS on this/these?

Good to know. What are you basing that on? March-ish is fine with me (Though I really don't care since I'm not buying one) as long as you don't talk like you know it's March 15th at 4pm at Heuberger Motors. Though in that case I would care because I'd totally go.

They are only 2 liter engines...what do you need power steering for?

Would it make sense to reason that since CAFE affected the EJ engine tuning before, now that Subaru has all these F-series motors that help raise their CAFE standard, that maybe they can finally give us the fully tuned and raw EJ motor we've all been wanting?

Of course I'm pretty sure they've already stated that we're getting a 2.0 liter, so if it were an EJ motor it would be an EJ20 and that would only sound refreshing if we finally got it twin-turbocharged from the factory. Old EJ on a new body? It was done with the 3G Impreza. No reason it couldn't happen for one more cycle or maybe just half a cycle. People would get excited about the car being lighter and better-handling while retaining the old EJ motor. Then mid-cycle we get the FA20DIT to make it exciting again.

Honestly, I think all of that thinking is downright retarded because Subaru has just been wasting time. We already know the FA20DIT exists, has made it to the U.S. and it makes no sense to withhold it from the 2015 WRX.

I am basing it on a SOA regional exec telling me over a year ago they would be here January; and the fact they said, back then, they would be having a launch every 6 months. The Crosstrek Hybrid is next in Sept. They have since said spring which would put it in March-April(March-ish).

As for the engine I do seem to remember the early spyshots, where the hoods open for heat tests.. I do seem to recall an oil filter on the right side.....
