Question OT Parents: coast guard approved life vest for a 12 month old baby?

Gf and I are planning on taking her 12 month old son to the community pool next week. There is a whole shallow area, but her son doesn't walk yet. Was looking at getting a floating seat, but community board told me absolutely not. They are saying they will only allow him to use a coast guard approved life vest.

I am kinda pissed off about it. Anyone have experience and recommendations for a life vest for a 12 month old baby?

Is the shallow area a graduated entrance from 0? If so, no need just hang out at the edge with the kid.

So, just get this for the lake, and sit in the zero entry pool part of the pool with the baby:

Yeah. I have a 12 month old and he just crawls around the zero entry part. We don't put anything on him, just stand right by him.

Thanks. I can't imagine a 1 year old not throwing a fit from being super uncomfortable in a full life jacket in a kiddie pool.

Peter Griffin: Hey, what's your friend's name?
Al Gore: Dick Armey.
Peter Griffin: [laughs] No, seriously, what is it?
Al Gore: [beat] ... Dick Armey.
Peter Griffin: [bursts out laughing] Hey, Armey, what's your wife's name, Vagina Coastguard?
[continues to laugh]
Al Gore: [laughs] Oh, I just got that.

Aren't they a lot more likely to be good at swimming than walking at that age? I remember years ago that baby swim classes were all the rage.

i'm glad you read it

i did too and it was oddly applicable
i'm the 'real' dad in that story, i watched my ex do pretty much everything the author described, srsly
she took one guy out, married him and shook him down for most everything he had, when they divorced he got squat and no connection to the kid (my kid)
then when she went after the next one, it was exactly like method two, try to bond the kid immediately, kid wanted nothing to do with him, mom persisted HARD
hard enough that kid left her and lives here now
dude was in prison for dui, a month later momma gets dui, sweet
i filed for sole, got it, she's on her own and has no idea how to hook the next one because she lost part of her bait
the bait that's still there smells enough that it'll probably work at least one more time
but not on me

so where's daddy?

I ordered a Stearns Life Jacket for my handicapped
teenage son, for a cruise, so he would not drown.

I ordered it for overnight shipping.

It never got here before we left. It arrived 3 days
after we left.
This seller was useless

I dated a single mom once.......once. Luckily I didn't get too far down the rabbit hole for all of those things listed in the article to occur. Glad someone else has witnessed the horror.

Never. Ever. Again.

OP please take caution.

I can agree with a lot of that story, but not about not caring for the step parent. My stepdad is an amazing guy and I love him. I was an ******* when I was a kid but now I realize how good he really is, and he makes my mom happy

Too bad they don't make a leak proof diaper.
