Maddmax your instructions are good except I would tape them off while the lenses are on the car, especially if you are leaving the turn signal clear. This way the red/clear borders line up. Otherwise it's guesswork, since there will always be slight imperfections on how the light sits in the body, etc.

I did mine over the weekend, used VHT.

Pulled lenses, washed them, prepped with alcohol and let dry. It was about 90* while i was doing this. After they were dry, i masked everything that wasn't the lens and the inner section of the center pieces. I did 5 light coats all while they were sitting in direct sunlight. Results were perfect.

It really is about the prep, it took me over 90 minutes just to get them ready to spray.

No, they are super smooth as well. Since its been over 24hrs since paint, i may do a light wet sand and put some clear lacquer on for protection.

Paint is simply paint. You definitely need clear as it offers the needed UV and general paint protection as well as depth/gloss. If you don't clear, the paint will degrade/fade.

I simply painted the outside housing solid red so there's no need to match up the center portions.

That is from spraying clearcoat over the tape, usually. Did you spray clear over the tape?

You need to use fine line tape then masking tape like so...

It's hard to see in the pic.

Then I removed the tape and cleared all of it so you don't get a hard line.

looks good, I'm going to try to be extra careful this time around

I was able to get the paint off of my other light without incident, just wasted a whole can of adhesive remover because i sprayed it on the rag first, i think ill just buy some paint thinner for the rest

Nice quad exhaust, I have the same problem with them being a little low as well, can't move it up without having it vibrate against the metal on top of it. :/
