I think I'm sticking with rotella. If I were to change I would go with motul. I like that the Subaru stealership by me offers motul as an upgrade. What happened with the misfiring?

nothing so far. idle has been mostly ok. It definately seems worse when I leave the car sitting for a few days. The codes have not returned..still waiting to run out of gas and pour my techron in. I should probably datalog it at some point. I think I might go with rotella too after typing that I'm leaning towards M1, there is just so much positive talk about it.

edit: the exhaust smell it quite strong on cold starts too, could be from misfires or I could just be paying more attention

Mine seams strong on cold starts as well, no misfires here though. Usually if you put your hand up to the exhaust fumes coming out you can feel the pulses from misfires. Not sure if that would work on our cars though.

Side note: Just updated my AP and map to the newest one (310) and I am now hitting 1 1/2 psi (about 18.5psi) more than the last OTS map even though it's hotter outside. Hopefully I won't be over boosting this winter otherwise I'll be going to the lwg map.

im trying m1 0w40, advance had a good sale(5 quarts and M1 filter for $32) and bitog seems to like it just as much.

something about the farm equipment in the back of the T6 bottle bugs me..I'll probably change my mind next time around. Maybe I can find my blackstone kit and have an analysis done one on my royal blurple, its under 5000 miles but I just realized its been in there since november..lol

0w40 is in...seems a bit more sluggish but its probably my imagination. Still having little misfires, but not too bad.

Yeah, even though that's bs they could try it. I would look around in the forums for mod friendly dealerships in your area. It would be worth driving quite a ways. My friend got his covered under warranty like I did even with his dp and tune still on it. I sent him to the same place and person that wrote mine up and they didn't hassle him either. His was the tob too unlike mine, but they replaced the clutch, flywheel and tob under warranty.

I think my dealer might be cool with it but its hard to say and I don't really want to blow my chance with them until I at least have a real noticeable issue..lol.

Anyway back to the misfiring, I datalogged my idle and some driving. It was really rough when I started it but by the time I noticed there was an option to log misfire count, it had warmed up and stopped misfiring. I did record 2 misfires while driving but I think that's pretty normal. I'll have to try again sometime because I don't think the log shows anything of interest aside from the RPM bouncing around a bit.

ok I took off my cobb SF intake, cleaned my maf, flashed to the stock airbox map and did some logging. After an uneventful drive I got back to my driveway, pulled out my tactrix cable and at that point it decided to start missing...lol so I plugged it back in and logged quite a few misfires. Sent the log over to eric at TP, we will see if he knows what the problem is, otherwise its time to trade in the car for an FR-S!...err I mean take it to the dealer and see what they have to say.

i want an FR-S/BRZ but it doesn't make a lot of sense for me right now. I say FR-S because they are just easier to come by around here than BRZs.

Speaking of quads, I think I'm gonna go back to my stock axleback. The Apexi isn't loud enough to make much of a sound diff so I think I'm going to sell it and my cobb SF intake. I'd rather have sway bars or something, maybe an electronic cutout.

I did notice my coolant was slightly low...its possible that I just never checked it before.

The whole misfire thing is very perplexing sometimes it happens on cold starts, sometimes after hard driving, sometimes after granny driving. The AC being on or off doesn't seem to effect it, although the AC compressor kicking on has always made kind of a loud noise..I just chalked it up to it being a noisy subaru.

Eric was stumped by it, said everything looked good aside from the misfires. The idle doesn't fluctuate much and the A/F ratio doesn't change.

Did you check all your hoses under the hood? Unless the coolant was drastically low it probably isn't the issue. Could it be a ringland issue?

yeah it doesn't seem to be leaking, probably just a bubble or something. I don't think its a ringland because its not burning any significant amount of oil and it doesn't seem down on power. Also it probably wouldn't be all 4 cylinders but its possible...hope not. Eric thought it might be a tgs or avcs issue.

Very strange. I noticed my AC makes a crazy nose every once in awhile when u turn it on also. Almost sounds like how a starter sounds grinding on the flywheel. In other news I have my kartboy endlinks f+r arriving on Wednesday. Will be installing an adjustable Harman motive rear and whitline front sway bar that I got for a steal. I think the front is 23mm and the rear is 24mm, not positive though. I do know is an upgrade from just having the sti rear like I have now. To those reading this, if you have a wrx it's definitely a worth while fairly cheap upgrade to switch to the sti rear sway Imo.
