Just spotted a brand new white WRX, must have rolled off the lot not too long ago. Just off of I-84, on 181st. Waved but didn't get a wave back. Must be new to the Subie Scene.

White 2012 WRX or STi sedan following me down 5th street all the way down the hill to Dutch Bros in Oregon City.

Glad you enjoy riding my ass. For you, parts are readily available when you inevitably wreck your car. For me, parts are hard to come by for my XT6 and if it ever did happen, there might be something else thrown around besides words.

Totally uncool. Who does that? Especially to another Scoob?

I might ride someone's ass every now and again, but only if they've done something to warrant it, and even then, if it's a Subaru I keep my distance regardless.

Sounds like someone with no respect for the old school to me. That's unfortunate

Its the new generation of subie owners. I always get less waves from 2009+ an usually always get them from 07 down. To the point if it doesnt look modded i dont even bother because its probably not an enth.

Id like to also add, this happens when a company gets bigger, it changes to attract more an newer drivers.. An thus i see subaru becoming like any of the other big ones in 20 years, so expect to see double the subarus, and more of the current new crowd.. The 2023 wrx/sti is going to be like the civic si crowd...

Not to be "that guy"...but as someone that regularly deals with Washington and Oregon drivers, I have to say, you're statistically not blameless here. Lotsa narcissistic passive aggressive douchebags that don't move over from the right, or refuse to move over at all these days in these 2 states. I'm not accusing..but generally it takes 2 to tango in most of these situations.

And you can save the aggressive driving speech for someone with an IQ below Down Syndrome. I'd rather be called aggressive for going 10 over in a 65/70 in open traffic, obviously having to pay attention; than the new blood we're getting in this generation that love to either cause road rage by driving 55 in the left lane, or they're texting/tweeting and will rear end someone anyway.

But so as not to derail...I drove to Coos Bay and back home to Seattle for the 4th, and saw mayyyyyybe 3 wrx/stis/xt/rs....and not waved back. Sad times all around Oregonians.

5th street isn't a highway. Your rant is invalid.

Edit: I guess it's not invalid, it just isn't applicable to this situation.

I'm the exception!

Mine is stock/boring looking slightly lowered on coilovers with stock '07 wheels... I'd rather put $$ into the motor/things that matter over "look at me" modifications that only result in a stolen vehicle and getting pulled over even more.

But I am in agreement that the 02-07's wave more than the '08+... hopefully this will change but not the end of the world.

My stock boring pos:

What should matter most (aside from driving skills/experience/tire choice):

Couldn't agree more!!!

I feel as though people have forgotten about reaction time/braking distance/etc... just pass them on the right like they're not even moving, usually everyone behind will do the same, and eventually they'll get the idea.

5 over = safer than paying no attention at any speed.

Now what about the ones that won't merge at freeway speeds and then slam on the brakes to get in at the last minute?.....

Oh man. Or the worst, a combination of both! Lol.

What defies logic for me is when people drive like this in a car modified enough that it's fairly distinctive.

A number of years ago, a white Mk2 Jetta with Vancouver plates and a black hood rode my ass at about 50-60 mph going around the loop of an onramp for 84 west from 182nd in Gresham. Soon as we hit the straight on the merge I punch it to get him off my ass, and he's still ridin it all the way up to about 80 or so.

Soon as were actually on the highway he shoots around me, gets in front of me, then about 30 seconds later slows down to the speed limit.

It's like, really? Actin like you were in that kinda hurry drivin like an absolute ass hat only to slow down once you're finally in front of me. So obnoxious

What's really funny is that guy is still around. Saw him at red door meet a couple months ago. And ran into him driving down 14 west about a month ago. Always make a point to return the favor all these years later as, when I ran into him on 14 he was still driving like just as much a jackass as he was the first time I encountered him ha ha

I typically give one car length following distance for every 10 mph...if after the slower driver has had several opportunities to move over, I'll then pass on the right.

Gave the guy pointers on some fliud servicing tips. Any one on here lucky enough to be the owner? I forgot to ask him.

For a second I thought that said 2013, and was going to say about being rude and un called for. But 2023... you are probably right. I think it has everything to do with who is into the car. There are some crowds starting to get into the WRX/STi's now that are already starting to do it...

Well, nobody needs to deuce. Everyone DOES need to respect others on the road. I agree with poor driving habits in general, but if someone rides my ass because I am going the posted speed through a neighborhood, that person is in the wrong...every single time. On the freeway with multiple lanes, YES ABSOLUTELY GTFOver ASAP.

I deuce any and all Subies on the road that look to be an enthusiast. It's about a 50% ratio of people responding back. Young or old. Don't like this stereotype thing happening over the past few years. It's getting a little too fascist in tone, yeah? I love seeing lots of modded Subes, model, year, whatever. It has taken quite a while, but now I see at least one done up tastefully on an outing.

Hate hearing stories like Caboob's on here, though. Frustrating.

Girl driving a silver 06/07 wrx wagon was next to me for a bit on I-5 near Lake Oswego up to terwilliger. Looked to be lowered and had a pink Subaru window banner.

I always show love to the older generation. Respect, yo. This is my second Subie to be fair.

I feel I get snubbed sometimes though, and have noticed the newer generation is less responsive.

Blue bugeye on Baseline in Beaverton (BBBB hah) today. Sexy ride.
