I really like the pro d. I also really like it with the v limited. But thinking that might put the front a little lower than I would like.

Questions for the autoX guys.....

what is your opinion on the 595's? also going with slightly smaller sidewalls to help with the lack of torque the brz has. confirmed 2nd gear redlines at 58mph. the 215/40's would be lowering that to ~56.

2 questions.
1. are these for auto-x only? or will they be your street driven tires?
2. Are you running in stock class or other? (i assume stock, which is why you're shooting for the 140TW?)

Other ideas:
- You could also switch to 235/40's on your stock rims (24.4" vs 24.6" @215/45) without going any taller.
- If you're not staying in stock class, you could drop to some lightweight 16x8's or something? Course 16" rubber is getting harder to find. Stupid stock cars these days all running 19's n 20's.... etc. Wonder what brakes the br-z actually has? will 15's clear... (and this just leads me off into brake-upgrade-land thoughts...)

Stock and then STX which is a 140TW class.

autoX only 17x7 @14lbs and 215/40's for gearing and weight. i'll probably run 225/45 for DD since they are cheaper, wider and fit better on the 7.5 wide sparcos..

Pretty sure 17x8's are the largest wheels that'll fit... So 235/40 I think are the biggest that fit those wheels and gear it down a little.

Does that sound better?

Not true take look at Brian's BRZ owner of BK Ind. He's slammed on 19s

I chatted it up with lots of suby owners today then went home for BBQ ribs. Just didn't have to drive a suby anywhere to do it... In fact I drove a Evo and mr2 all day.
Kinda feel like Im missing out by not going to twin, but I'm probably already loaded up on work for that weekend.

Schmidt, you can run 235's on 7's... Also, what are 14lbs?

And yes, 16's are getting harder to find, but still. 225/45, and 245/45 wide a avail.

Brian's car is sick!
There are a lot of brz's on wheels bigger than 17" wheels.

What will fit easily within the real of normal suspension parts/geometry and alignment, and what can be fit with some work... often have nothing in common...

Yes but it's not a dedicated track car...and none of the wider tires than 235 give me the gearing advantage I want....

The again I might just autoX on some cheap max performance tires instead of needing 3 sets of wheels

Stock fit easily just stay that way and be boring

I'd try and stagger if it was me I'd go crazy, for you I'd do 17x9 rear 17x8 front.

Full coilovers and lots of other suspension parts I do believe he's done auto x and track days with it. Just saying

I believe Chris Wold is also on 18 or 19s for his race wheels.

For auto-x i see several issues tho. Aside from getting kicked out of stock classing.
1st problem: 17's and 215/40/17's vs 19's and lets say 225/35-ish something. I would lay money that unless you're going to spend super, super $$$ on that 19" setup, you've gained a ton of (unsprung) weight. So, traveling in the wrong direction. Might look good, but bad for performance. So there's -1
2nd: Like he said, trying to reduce overall diameter to add low end grunt is not benefited by 19's. -1 again.
Lastly you'll go faster by adding more rubber (bigger contact patch) or sticker rubber. You'll increase your traction for acceleration, cornering, and braking. And since cramming huge wheels under cars usually requires using stretched tiny tires, that's not gonna help either. -1 yet again.

Again, not to say that you can't auto-x on some good looking, bigger wheels n tires. I'm all about enjoying auto-x without being overly competitive (takes all the fun out of it). But that does not make for a faster car.

Hmm. my thoughts on auto-x'ing BRZ if i had one: swap to 4pot/2pot setup, get 15x8 Slips's with 225/45/15 RS-3's.
Fender gap much?

Well if you wanna stay stock then stay stock that easy, If you plan on being competative look at what they use in pro solo (which is 18-19s) so there must be a reason besides look.

Its a very similar car to my s2000's and if I bought one and planned on auto xing competitively I'd go 17-18 and stuff a 245-275 under the car, Now if I was just DDing the car it would be a different story.
