Default Who has the fastest Subaru in the US?

So we were have this discussion over the weekend and started to wonder who really does have the fastest (not quickest) Subaru in the US? Based on top speed.
(And before you tell me about Andy, I'm aware that he's gone super fast, which is why I said the US . )

Our (Awdtuning's) 04 STi has gone 201mph in the Texas Mile
Has anyone else done a mile or 1.5 mile event? If so, What is your recorded top speed?

-Mary

During the Texas Mile we were running a GTX 3582R. With that set-up we made 601whp at 32psi on 93 oct + alcohol.
Now we run a Forced Performance HTA 3786R and make 620whp at 34psi on C16.
Best time for this street car is 9.6 in the 1/4 mile with a 149.4mph trap.

Are you guys using factory gearsets/final drives to reach 200mph? How high are you spinning the engine?

Car is sorta daily driven. He doesn't have A/C and we live in Texas so he doesn't drive it when it's super hot, but we attend a weekly local event held by Texas Motor Speedway called Friday Night Drag Wars ( https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1476150&type=1 ) and he drives the car to that event and others like it.
With driver the car is 3350 lbs.

Yeah someone posted on 1320video.com's facebook page that Will went 202mph at the mile, but it was actually 201mph. I figured that was where it came from.

When we went to the Texas Mile we were running a PPG gear set. But it broke shortly after that so we are now running stock 07 STi gears 1-4 and SpecB 5th & 6th. We went back to the Texas Mile in March on that gear set and was only able to do 200mph before the new turbo (was a BorgWarner 9180 then) took a dump.

With the Michigan Mile now going along with the Texas Mile, Miami Mile and I think there is another one, maybe more Subaru guys will try it out. It's so much fun! Can't wait to be back to the Texas Mile in October with our 800whp Mexico STi.

back in that thread they were claiming "fastest in the western hemisphere" so the 201-202 could be the record....you'll probably just have to check google and youtube to see if theres something faster. I definately dont recall anything faster here on nabisco.

i think they were supposed to do the mojave mile too out here in cali...not sure if it ever happened though.

Are any special aero dynamics needed to run 200mph?

For instance do you have an underbelly tray

We had planed on going to Mojave and Boneville. We never made it to Bonneville. Scott took the car to Mojave and the shakedown runs looked very promising. During his first full boost run, the Accusump pumped about 6 extra quarts of pressurized oil into the crankcase at 6000 RPM, ending the weekend and the engine in the car.

The car is being slowly rebilt. Both myself and Scott have fulltime 60-70 hr/week jobs and he lives about 4 hours away from me making time to get the car together scarce (and money for that matter). I recently heard that our custom cams and heads are finished, and the new engine is also waiting for us to pick it up. Talked to Scott about three weeks ago and he was ready to begin re-building and changing the car. Originally he talked about making it to the mile in October, but realistically, it will prolly be March for the mile. We will be returning to Mojave/Boneville next year as well.

There are a ot of exciting changes being made to the car (since it has been in it's current state for over 6 years) and we are excited to get out to Mojave/Bonneville and set some real land-speed records.

Not only did we not have an underbelly tray...we did not even have the factory aero pieces on the car. We were pretty rushed to get the car to the event so we ran the car without the factory under belly pieces, no engine undertray, no front grille, no front splitter, no wing, hell, we didn't even have fender liners on either of the front wheels. We taped some cardboard over the front opening, zip tied/taped the bumper on and went to town. It was an aerodynamic mess and it's a miracle it stayed on the ground. The only reason it went as fast as it did was because of the obscene power the car was making.

So, if you have enough power, you could push aything to 200 mph.
