Not really about my car, but I was at the dealership yesterday (recall stuff, not overpaying for service). The salesman mentioned that the Impreza and WRX will be 2 separate models in the next gen.

Me: That kinda makes sense. I mean the current base model Impreza looks [look both ways and start whispering] kinda like a corolla

Him: well... umm... there's nothing wrong with that. Toyota is a valued partner of ours.

You're one of those people that things that the BRZ is really underpowered and should have been AWD, aren't you...

It's not so much underpowered, it's just not "powerful". Another 100 ponies (and better brakes) wouldn't suck, that's for sure.

The wheelbase is too short for that much horsepower without some intense aero modifications.

I have no idea how or why my comments would lead you to believe that, but the BRZ is a little underpowered. AWD would throw off the balance, though.

I would consider myself more of one of those people with eyes who has seen the current base-model Impreza and a Corolla. It looks like every other car in its class. That was kind of the point, thus why Subie will stop calling the WRX an Impreza as of MY2015.

Can any one explain why the Imprzas all looked the same minus difference in wider fenders etc until the last body style came out? I got in count less augments with people because I've said the cross treck looks like the base model Imprezas and they get uppity saying it doesn't because they can't tell the difference from an Impreza and an wrx/sti.

To save money on production costs, plain and simple. And so ricers can get a hood/trunk swap and tell you that they have a super JDM Type-R STI with double nitrous and Paul Walker in the trunk, of course.

I was pumping gas and this guy drives by with a supra turbo. I thought he would know a little about cars. He said, "wow, nice car. Is that the new honda?" I just started laughing.....

my mom's husband said I wouldn't be able to put the 2.5 out of his 03 legacey wagon because his is a long wheel base and my subaru is a short wheel base. Along with the fact that the rims off his car wont fit because they're 16s and mine are 17s. He sure does know a lot for some one who was a mechanic and raced cars for 10 years with his 302 powered 72 celica.

A slammed STI flew by us and my dad yells "there goes a Prelude!" My brother retorted "nope that was a GT-R!"

"Nice car you have parked out front. Its an Impreza right? Is it a WRX? I heard that those are fast cars."

Said about my base model . Makes me look at all the WRXs with envy.

A potato looks more similar to an STi than a prelude. There isn't even a slight resemblance

My daughter (5) and I were driving home tonight in my bone stock, wingless, WRX. A lime green CRX with matching colored rims and a goofy, scrawny, older teenager in a flat brimmed hat and wife beater pulls up on the right. My daughter rolls down her window and says:

Bella: I have a remote car that looks like your car, it's green too!

I look over and smile.

CRX Bro: Yeah, is it fast?

Bella: No, it makes funny noises and breaks a lot. You should get a Subaru like my daddy's car.

CRX Bro: (laughing) Naw, tell your daddy to get a Honda. They're faster.

Then she said something that almost made me cry laughing.

Bella: Whatever man... Haters gonna hate!

He laughed even harder, revved up his engine, and took off as fast as he could. I just went home. I'm sure he told all his friends about how he stomped a WRX off the line.

I get that all the time, except they say STI Even when I tell them its non turbo, they still insist that its still fast as hell.

The people here make it seem like subarus are luxury cars. Maybe because the only dealer that sells them also sell BMW's and range rovers lol.
