I am just now trying to figure this out myself.....my "left side" solenoid is messing up on me, I think. I have been throwing a CEL and my tuner found that the left side is not running up to speed like the right side is, if only I knew what was considered left (viewing from front of car or back of car).

I think I will be pulling mine apart to clean them just to see if that will fix the problem.

thanks mod, my driver side keeps throwing a 0021 code and it will idle really rough sometimes. i've swapped out avcs solenoids but it is still there.

as far as taking it apart, i'll have to look at it since i have two of them sitting out from my old engine and i'll let you know what i find, i would think they can be taken apart. in my other post, someone mentioned to hook a 9v battery up to it to see if it opens up to test it, id try that and see what it does, it should show if its getting stuck or not opening.

I had asked that because while pulling the solenoid from the motor.. the electrical part separated from the actuating part (if that makes any sense) non the less I found and purchased a new one just in case.. and after a flush and an oil change 200+ miles I haven't thrown the p0021 code yet...

(Crossing fingers and knocking on wood that I didn't just jinx myself)

thats good to hear, glad you got rid of yours. i'm going to switch to a heavier weight oil and see what happens since mine only does it at idle and i have a tad bit looser bearing clearances.........

Every single car out there and all the parts go by if you were sitting in the drivers seat. So for USDM cars (left hand drive) driver is always left and passanger is always right.

Default P0011 code Subaru WRX 2008 stock

I have received this code several times now and the mechanics are stumped.
The car drives beautifully, no detrimental effects to the turbo or performance otherwise. Most recently, the check engine light came on 120 miles after having work done and the code reset. I was getting on the freeway in 5th gear and let the RPMs slip below 2,000 when the light came on. The vehicle occasionally will send minor vibrations while at a stop, but it's not alarming.

My WRX is an '08 with 72,000 miles and no modifications. Prior to the check engine light coming on, the timing belt was replaced and oil changed regularly. Since the P0011 code, I've had both camshaft position sensors (solenoids) replaced (banks 1 and 2), as well as the oil changed again.

Please advise as to what direction I should go in. Is it just a timing issue that can be resolved with the high quality tools of a dealership, or am I looking at serious maladies. Thanks!

The issue is the avcs gears, log the AVCS timing below 2k, see they float around off targets, gears seals inside are leaking to the wrong side, solenoids keep chasing targets, need to replace the avcs gears and also solenoids burnout chasing it.
