This sort of thing happened recently to my '04. The rear springs came off of the rubber boot and were metal on metal. I know it's 9yo but that doesn't necessarily rule it out.

Update. Just got my car back today. They didn't fix the rear view mirror yet, also thry claimed rattle was from exhaust hitting subframe. (It wasn't). Checked where I asked them to tighten interior panels that i suspected were rattling, they didn't do anything about them. I just put my stock exhaust back on, its still rattling so their exhaust hitting subframe claim is bogus. Taking it back in tomorrow for them to actually fix it hopefully. They also refused to let me speak with the mechanic that claimed it was hitting the subframe...

Hightail it to a different dealership that can do your warranty work. You went in with multiple problems and they didn't fix any? Did a mechanic not go out with you on a little test run so you could replicate the problems or sounds for them?

Yea try a different dealership (if one is close to you). If not make sure they get in the car with you and prove that it's your mirror.

I'm in a 2012 with 23k and I don't really hear anything noticable then again, I always have music going, windows down and exhaust notes flowing so... wgaf.

the closest dealership other than this one would be an hour and a half away at least. Well my rear view mirror actually fell off while i was driving (Im not OP), and it also damaged the black radio bezel cover, now it has silver scratches all over it, which they better replace. Defective rear view mirror falls, and damages other interior peice, sounds like a actually warranty claim to me... Im going in today and not going to speak with anybody else besides the manager because im tired of the horrible service at my local dealership.

I just get treated like a kid that they dont have to give good service to because im only 20 and own a WRX but im just as much a customer as anybody else.

I go into my local Ford dealer with my grandma's car to get her rattles fixed and oil changes etc and ive experienced nothing but professionalism there. I just hate that i have to point every little thing out to them and then they still dont even fix anything. Im sure if it was any other dealer they would have been like "Oh! your rear view mirror fell off im sorry about that, well get that taken care of, looks like it also damaged this bezel well order another one of those as well."

I'm eleven. I have dynamatted the pillars, rear deck and so far the rattles are better especially the rear deck rattle at startup that was terrible. Next will be the door panels but the most annoying rattle is above my head where the sunfoof controls and dome lights are. I've taken that part out and put small pieces of dynamat on that but I'm not sure if it's maybe in the sunroof motor assembly or something. It sucks but I can't complain too much as I knew when I bought the car that Subaru's are notorious for this. I guess I didn't realize how much my STI would make my old EVO X and Mustang sound like Lexus's in comparison lol.

My new 2013 WRX rattles right after I drove off the dealership, first from the trunk cover pillar now the side door panel rattles as well, I expected more to come though..but I still love it and not regret buying it.
