You're welcome! I don't mind my push button start, but I can see how you'd want to avoid it. It is nice just having a key in your pocket and having keyless entry and starting.

Good to see manual is coming back into the fold.

BTW, all your cars are pigs, you need to go Old School if you want light weight... or pull most of the interior out.

All XT's come with black interior!

Anyway, I spent an extensive amount of time scrutinizing the new Forester, both the 2.5i and XT. If anyone has any specific questions for someone that has seen and touched it, feel free to ask away and I will try to answer.

One of my key takeways was that I got a sales rep to show me his training material. In it, I was able to learn some details not previously released or confirmed yet. Specifically, I have confirmation of all of the interior/exterior color combinations.
Here's the breakdown:

2.5i models:
  • Satin White Pearl --> Gray two-tone interior (Actually called "Platinum"; looks really good to me, IMHO. I'm not a big fan of monotone all-black
  • Ice Silver Metallic --> Avail in BOTH gray and black interior
  • NEW: Burnished Bronze --> Black interior
  • Dark Gray Metallic --> Gray
  • Crystal Black Silica --> Black (that's correct -- those of you that want black-on-black finally get it)
  • Marine Blue Pearl --> Gray
  • NEW: Jasmine Green --> Gray
  • Venetian Red --> Gray

Turbo XT Models:
  • ALL have BLACK INTERIORS ONLY
  • XT's are NOT AVAILABLE in Jasmine Green or Burnished Bronze

Other notes:
  • Training material clearly stated that HP/Torque ratings are for 93 octane and that 87-91 use could see diminished power & economy. So it's true that it's rated for 93. It did also say that use of lower octane would NOT harm the engine, but wasn't recommend for high-stress and high-altitude driving, but in normal driving, users might not even sense a difference.
  • Training materials also clearly stated that paddle shifters were an upgrade for the XT. They are not on the 2.5i's.
  • Sun visors are NOT illuminated.
  • Driver's seat travel for fore/aft and up/down and noticeably extended. Great range.
  • Black unpainted front bumper in XT's look better in person than in pictures, and have a texture of little oval nubbins that looks good in person.
  • Bottom seat cushion length is about 1/2" longer than the Outback's (I feel that the Outback's seats are too short with poor thigh support), but still about 3/4" shorter than the nicely sized Impreza's. Overall, seating felt really comfortable to me, but not best-in-class. I actually find the Impreza seats to be a little better in overall comfort, at least with leather.
  • 2.5i models do NOT get the U-shaped LED running lights surround the headlights. That is an XT upgrade.
  • Passenger seat height adjustment is gone in the 2014's, but the seating position over the cowl is SO much better and higher than the 2013's, I can see why it wasn't needed.
  • By sight, looks like the rear sway bar should be swappable with the WRX/Outback/Impreza where upgrading to 19mm really helps handling. I took a hi-res photo with a tape measure, and I'll estimate the diameter when I download and convert to mm. I'm guessing it is 17mm. With the high ground clearance and short rear overhang, the rear sway bar is REALLY easily accessible for swap-out.
  • I couldn't find ANY evidence of a door ajar indicator, not even the generic red one that tells you if any door is open. I'm hoping it's part of the color screen display in the center console. The one on display was operating but disabled from adjustment, so I couldn't toggle the screens.
  • The front headrests DO pivot and are adjustable just like the Impreza!! Yay! No more protruding headrest pushing my head too far forward!

Cheers,
Elliot

Akrexak, do you mind compiling your Forester XT pics here when you get a chance? I'd love to keep track of your impressions and experiences! Also any updates on the inaccuracies of previously posted statement, like if black interior really is available with all exterior colors. Thanks!

It's Dave or David
I will post more tomorrow, I will take interior pictures and write more about the car when I get a chance tomorrow. I have to be up for the gym at 0415 (by choice, I'm keeping my line number).

Dude, I have your name in my phone! I know what it is, but I try not to initiate a conversation online by using someone's name. Heck, I still type out "kayetealynn" and "kyletakahero". I'm just kinda weird like that, though, since I have no problem taking pictures of people's plates and posting them online...

Anyways, thank you, Dave, for sharing pics of your new sexiness. 8 Subarus?! That's magnificent.

Then you realized it was twinscroll turbo on a new 2.0 engine and that lacking a hoodscoop means less bait for cops, right?

But bait is gooder!!

In all seriousness though, I enjoyed the scoops on all my Subaru's. I'm sure someone sometime will make a CF hood with a scoop.

Yeah, I can't hate or front, I prefer hoodscoops too. I'm almost tempted to get a hood with integrated scoop for my BRZ becauseracecar. hahaha

Especially since the turbo is down low and near the front already. Would be very interesting to see such short piping.

Is it just me, or is the dead on front shot of the white one with projectors looks like a Toyota Highlander or 4Runner?

I hadn't actually seen a lowered one yet, or even a black XT.

Gotta say, looks better than the white one posted earlier. However... still not impressed with the looks. Maybe it's the looks of the bumper, but something just doesn't flow with it for me.
