Godspeed Andrea.

Really bizarre race. Never seen such a mess with such hard rain on one half of the track, but completely dry on the other. The race should have been called earlier, in my opinion. Hindsight is 20/20.

Now they've cancelled the 2nd leg of the event. but only after someone lost their life.

Aprilia back in the lead of the championship.

Racing in the rain has got to be tough... I've watched a lot of races with dozens of wrecks before the race got called. Those guys are no joke. Unlike Nascar who black flag a race the moment a sprinkle starts.

Its a shame, and a sad day in racing that there was a death

Yep,

The top MotoGP guys ride like robots. Just sheer perfection. Bike setup is everything. Tiny problem with their injured bodies, traction control, or a suspension setting….they loose 2/10ths a lap and over 30 laps it ends up being a couple seconds gap.

Makes for a snoozefest at times.

yeah was still a good race. I mean no one wrecked badly or anything like that. But the race did lack some excitement. There was no serious battles going on. But thats how any race can be. No one risking it big and just content to ride in their spot.

I ride the bike in the morning and Jeep in the afternoon. High 90's is to hot to be riding in slow traffic.

How do you know he was just black?

Maybe he was Chinese black. Or milk chocolate black. Perhaps English black.

Hmmm.

*(Had to after that Chinese debate that went on earlier)

Not jealous at all, just admire his good taste. Welcome to the club Slorex8. Which dealer did you get it from?

I plan to add a Factory RSV4 to my stable next season. Hoping for some updates too. Give us some ride reports.

Do we even have a Aprilia dealership in Alaska by the way?

yep, Alaska Cycle center carries the brand, but they like to keep it quiet, since Aprilia kicks the top selling boutique Ducati's asses on practically every performance front.

Lets put it this way, I have more Aprilias in my garage than they've had on their showroom, in recent memory.

Another case of beauty is in the eye of the beholder if you ask me. While the new panigale is sleek and I loved the iconic 996, the 998 and 999 were poorly received.

The diavel and multistrada have "faces" only a mother could love.

To me, Ducatis have become like Harley's were in the 90's. More a fashion or lifestyle statement.

Aprilias are for riders who could give an eff what the general public thinks of our bikes. Haven't heard of the brand before? Good! Worried about lack of a local dealer? Good! Keeps us exclusive. And disappearing into the distance as you wonder wtf just happened when you try to keep up.

Let's be realistic though.

For the marginal differences in performance these bikes have. No one in this state and honestly any state will be able to ever push these bikes to their maximum capability on the street to notice the difference. Law enforcement, public safety and road conditions limit that vs. A full prepared race track and professional level experience. Hell even then equipment used in professional competitions hardly reflect what's released to the public market.

So from there I think many other factors come into play for those who wish to buy bikes at those price tags. And really any bike for that matter.

That's why there will always be brand loyalty amongst consumers.

I think they're all great bikes and one should buy what gives them the biggest smile at the end of the day for their money.

http://www.adn.com/2013/07/25/299080...st-killed.html

I wonder if the BMW used his turn signals or just slowed and turned left. Riding in that formation, if someone stopped suddenly in front of you, instict would be to swerve left. Which in this case was right into the back of the BMW as it turned left.

I hate lane changers, more so those that don't turn on their signals first. How the hell are you suppose to know what they are doing? I've managed to avoid a couple morons by watching their front tire twitch. if it starts to turn, I know they are coming into my lane and I have a chance to get out of the way.
