It's actually that Toyota high-rise wing that is super rice, but... I really like it anyways. Sue me! He just replied with a link to his FB page with pics. I'll say it again, if Toyota had released the GT-86 in the states instead of it being a Scion, and had the Limited trim, I'd be in a GT-86 right now.

Apparently low labor rates aren't low enough for people.

I swear... Some of you.... Some of you would allow putting your car together with duct tape and bubble gum if you could.

Yep, just look at how much time and money he saved.

Hopefully, it was a lesson learned. I've had to learn a few of my own.

Not just bubblegum, bubblicious. I think it's a little outrageous to charge 100+ for replacing pads IMO. Was short on time and didnt feel the need to wait at a shop. leason leanred. Next time I'll just put it off till after a fishing trip.

Luckily this wasn't on my Subaru. Just on my truck. Lol.

There is more to replacing pads than just inserting them and driving out the door. Doing brakes properly still takes time in case you were unaware.

This is not something you skimp on with your car, period. These are your brakes... they are the most important safety feature of your car. Imagine if something worst happened because you didn't catch it and had to be a cheap bastard. Imagine complete brake failure. You not only place yourself in danger but your passengers and those driving around you on the road.

And say it's your Impreza because being that cheap is most likely always that cheap....You've attended autocross.. imagine your brakes failing and you plow right into a spectator, course worker, driver or someone's vehicle.

To be a member of this forum and go with some loser mobile mechanic on craigslist is inexcusable. One with probably no credibility or insurance to hold liable. Vendors on here already charge such low prices, I don't see how they're remotely expensive. If you can't afford proper work then take the money, throw a BBQ or Beer & Pizza party and have people on this forum with experience help you. Seriously that's all it takes... make a thread... say you need help getting brakes done and need tools or a location to do them. Include free beer and food. You'll have people volunteering before the end of the day.

This of course is all a worst case scenario and I'm sorry that I'm getting on your case so much about it... however, this is an auto enthusiast forum. You should have known better to begin with. The resources here at your disposable provide many alternatives. Please use them.

I agree. I don't let anyone do my brakes or even switch over my tires unless its a trusted shop ( tho I do it myself usually ).

Next time make a thread or post in the off topic thread and see if you can either get people to help or suggest a shop. We are a safer bet then craigslist for sure

As new and as inexperienced as I maybe, i'm still not stupid enough to not check on the work being done. If I cant watch the work being done, or cant at least check afterwards I dont care for it. guy didnt even have the tire on before I saw something was up. worse case scenario? yeah. wouldve sucked. no need for the horror story.

Had someone come to my shop today. Short talk eventually led to conversation on vehicles, and he said his F150 ecoboost could beat my "little ricer", simply because it has more hp and torque. I was lost for words after that. IDIOT!

I dunno.. Some trucks are tricky, and the Ecoboost is nothing to scoff at.

Yeah pretty much depends on the circumstances. Ask him how his F150 would do on an autox course. Or heck, even up Hiland Road in Eagle River! In the end you've got nothing to prove to him.

WRX has a quicker 0-60, 1/4 mile, top speed, better handling, and is just all around quicker. It's not like I'm gonna try to challenge the guy in a towing contest. 1 vehicle can't do it all.

The 09+ WRX also has a faster 0-60 than a STi.

But yeah, I don't doubt a car will out pace a truck around a track.
But what I'm saying is, that if the guy had 5k into that motor, in a quarter mile it would be pretty formidable. 5k into a WRX gets you no where really.. Ask me how I know.

Haha agreed that's there's always room for improvement. That's why I'll stick to twisty dirt roads. I'm not all that into draggin.
