Default AKEURO Matanuska Glacier Annual Cruise

AKEURO Matanuska Glacier Annual Cruise

This Saturday is the day.......(Posted on the board)

Looks like we are going to have some good weather this weekend. I hope we can get a good turn out.

We are meeting at the tikahtnu commons area there near the theater. Then we can drive out from there.

Meeting at 10am and then drive out at 11am to give people a chance to get there before we leave.

Open to everyone that would like to come.

Hope to see everyone

Lee

Hmm...My interest is piqued as to what the reply will be. May join in and ride the bike.

Lunch at Long Rifle Lodge? Excellent burgers and fries and a great view of the glacier.

Then, Sheep Mountain Lodge for some Apple-Rhubarb or Granny Smith Apple pie ala mode?

Yeah, they're that good to drive that far for pie

Hey, I used to drive to (Soldotna or Soldovia) for DQ when it was the only one in the state, and I regularly drove to Tok for a milkshake from fast eddie's

Plus, the wife is a camera nut, so I know she'd enjoy the trip.

That's committed to get DQ to have to drive all the way out there.

I can attest to all the above. Long Rifle is a good place with good food and nice people there. I go there semi-regularly, mostly because the Fiance is from the area so when visiting fam we drop in.

Is Taco Bell where people are meeting up out there? *IF* our schedule is free tomorrow, we may decided to run out with everyone, and depending on where we are at in our errands, we may hang with you at the Valleyer's meeting spot.

Not sure where or if there's a meeting spot in the valley. Just used Taco Bell as a generic location since it's right off the Hwy w/ visibility of the roadway.

I was the only person from our group, then three from AKEURO showed up. weather was crap here in anchorage, then it got nice out on the way up, but by the time we got there, we had caught back up to the weather. On the way back we went to Hatcher's Pass which was nice. No pictures though, weather was crap for that.

Pretty sure I saw the group driving away from Anchorage yesterday. Saw Lee and some cars after him and flashed my lights a bit. Didn't recognize any of the cars except Lee.

Yeah, there were only a few of us that went. Weather was GORGEOUS when we headed into town, then urned to crap in Anchorage, and for a good portion of the way out.

Here's what it looked like from Long Rifle.

Then the weather turned pretty nice on the way back into Hatchers, and stayed nice while we were up there.
