I couldn't believe my eyes when I read it. Chano actually offered to help make a bug-eye look better.

The bugeye needs all the help it can get, even at my expense. The only thing worse than a bugeye is a dirty bugeye. SMH

You know when people ask that question: "If you had a million dollars, how would you spend it?" I'd spend a portion of it buying JDM projectors for the bugeye for EVERYONE that's turbocharged. And for certain members I'd even pay for their front end swap if they wanted to have a peanut or hawkeye front end.

Or, if I could get all that done without paying any money, but have the trade-off be that I'd have to be buried in a pit with all those old, disposed bugeye front end parts, I think I'd make that sacrifice on behalf of the greater good.

Default FT-86 Engine Woes

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37810

So it seems that this company is fighting Subaru on covering their engine under warranty. They make good points about Subaru's marketing always touting the BRZ has being track-ready (as they've done with the STI and WRX), but then when there's documented failure, you have to fight tooth and nail to get them to warranty a repair. This BRZ doesn't have engine or transmission mods.

Meanwhile, on NASIOC, I thought this guy's response was interesting:

Sound familiar? Didn't an early MY of sti have this same issue? Why didn't Subaru learn from this?
If this were true, theoretically would one have a leg to stand on if one could prove that constantly pumping 90 Octane gas into cars requiring a minimum of 91 Octane was a cause of engine failure?

And I'm not talking about fighting Subaru. I'm talking about fighting legislation to get 91 Octane here.

I've always been told that the ECU adjusts for our craptastic 90 Octane, so I've never really worried about it. This is just me thinking out loud.

Very cool new product. Gonna be picking one of these up for a Go Pro backup.

Oh that's sweet! Speaking of camera technology, has anyone thought about getting a set of Google Glasses to use for autox? Get some Point-of-View going!?

There are several systems in place to deal with poor octane. The ecu with the aid of the knock sensor on these motors is more than capable.

The issues arise when people bypass, tune out, or some how eliminate these safety systems.

Simple mechanical things can happen as well that are common such as fuel pressure regulator line pops off, boost leaks, vac leaks, etc. You won't always get a check engine light right away but you sure will feel a difference when you get on it usually. Believe it or not many people just keep driving their car hard even when its obvious something is wrong.

Apparently with the FA20 it has everything to do with the direct-injectors. I need to read the entire thread, though. Just thought I'd share a thought since everyone is still kinda learning this new engine.

Thanks Seth!

Yeah I didn't read the thread, was just commenting on what I have seen and knowing the systems in place to protect the motors from bad fuel.

If there are some factory defects or bugs to work out then anything is possible and may have nothing to do with the owner or his/her actions of course. I'm sure if the problem is big enough and able to be replicated then Subaru will be forced to address it.

Speaking of legislation for 91, how the hell do we not have E85 up here at all. I figured the granolas would be all over that.

Agreed...E85 would be a great step up as filling our tanks with race gasisn't the best for the wallet, even if it is for the cars...

Random question but I'm curious if the person who bought my old roommates 07 sti is on here. It had the plates "Endless", was CGM 07 sti hawkeye had the turbo and a few other things pulled from it. Had like a perrin fmic and a 18 or 20g turbo and all the fueling

Heard the person who bought it was going to swap the stuff into their legacy wagon.

Been thinking of putting another GO Pro mount on my helmet to do just that. Even with head turning, however that doesn't make up for the amount of eye movement that is going on. You have to develop those skills and learn how to look ahead. You must be able to project where you want to place the car by memory from your track walk and put it all together at speed.
