Well, as some of you may know I was offered a Co-Drive in Rue' owned by Cliff Kangas.

This being my first rally-x I was a bit timmid being strictly a solo driver, but luckily this car has won several national championships is the stock awd class.

Getting used to a full race harness, roll cage, constant left foot breaking and the ever changing terain was a big learning curve for me but my times contue to fall through out the day.

Luckily there were alot of FWD and RWD cars out there with us help even out the terrain.

This was a serious eye-opener for me, but it's definitley something that alot of Solo people would enjoy for sure, just make sure your car is prepped for the site and that you are mentally ready for what's about to happen in your head and in your pants.

So as the shirt says....

^ I would come to hang out but I think I might run away with some other plans.

Friday I'm heading to the SOX/YANKS game.

Saturday morning is Boston Cars and Coffee.

Sunday the Mass Tuning ADSI open house at Quonset Point.

Anyone heading to ADSI?

If you just ran it all the time you wouldn't have this problem.

Assuming you are referring to the NER SCCA event at Devens there is usually a link posted on their forum when people upload pictures. Also, if you are referring to the NER event you may want to look at RTA H Stock the road tire class unless you have R-comps.

Yup that's the one, but nobody's posted in the event forum yet apart from me. I was told to run in H stock, but I guess we'll wait and see if they switch me. I'm on V12's, so no R comps for me.

You want CLASS-RTA with a PAX-H stock. You can go into Motorsports reg and change this.

You will get killed in H-stock with the guys running r-comps.

I should have mentioned I'm a novice, so I'm registered for Novice H stock, not RTA.

If I didn't have help I'd be doomed, haha!

I'm signed up in the STX LGT with a co-driver. Should be a good event, not too many entries is exciting. Last NER event I attended was 160+ entries and a PITA. Here's hoping for more than 5 runs

RAL Weekend
August 9th,10th and 11th 2013

Jeff Gordon Challenge and NER Points Event #6

New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Every year the New England Region of the SCCA ventures out to Loudon NH to race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway to raise money and awareness for Leukemia research.

This is a whole weekend event for some, myself included, who are able to actually camp out in the in-field. My self and the photographer for all of the photo's in this post were able to arrive friday night around 10 PM. As it has been years since I've tented, I was instantly reminded of one of the basic rules of camping. Shelter first, adult beverages later, not the other way around. You can use your imaginations to generate visuals of us fumbling around in the dark trying to setup our tents for the night.

Saturday morning we were awakened by the sounds of horsepower as the club racers, spec miata, and formula V drivers were already chomping at the bit to get out on the track and lay down some rubber.

Being a 2 day event, Saturday would include charitable donation laps, and the Jeff Gordon Challenge. The standard points event would be held on Sunday. Luckily the weather was pretty close to perfect the entire weekend. Possibly the largest noticeable difference between the 2 main venues (besides the huge race track behind us) was the length of the course. Average run times were somewhere around 28 seconds, with the fast guys breaking into and past the 26 second mark, wich is about half the time of a normal devens run.

The Surface we were on seemed to be alot more course and bumpy than the Devens airfield we were used to. This made for interesting transitions and braking points.

Once the fun runs had ended around noon time, the qualify laps for the Jeff Gordon Challenge began. The top 13 drivers and any one who had raised over $1000 for Race Against Leukemia would advance to a single elimination bracket racing. I qualified! but was quickly knocked out . Once the dust had settled Charlie in his HS Mini had emerged victorious.

After all the auto-x runs had been completed, we got the chance to turn some laps on the actual track. Both the oval and the road course, which even in a bone stock 2001 Accord autotragic was an absolute blast. To cap off the day, we broke out the fire pits, coolers, footballs, grills and solo cups and had a cook out / after party with about 40-50 racers from the region. Good times were had by all.

Sunday morning came (rather quickly I might add) and it was back to business at NMHS. Cars were tech'd and gridded by 9 am and the road course was buzzing with the sounds from a plethora of cars turning in lap times.

Luckily with the short course and slightly smaller roster, we were able to clock in 8 runs each for the day. There was a whole new learning curve as the course was completly different from the previous day. This left room for some to improve and unfortunately some to fall from grace.

Shortly after trophies were awarded the speedway cleared out as most of us had to work on Monday. This was by far one of my favorite Auto-X weekends, and the best parts was that it was all for a good cause. The New England Region Solo group alone raised over $10,000 for Leukemia reaserch! Between all the clubs at the event over $17,000 in total was raised!

I for one was happy to contribute to a great event and will most certainly be back next year!

All Photo's taken by Michael Siergiej, more can be found here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/9697092...7635052295470/

Results for both days can be found here:

http://www.ner.org/solo/2013-season-results

Will be doing another update on the most recent NER SCCA event from this past weekend once the pictures are done being processed and edited. Untill then...

Great recap Warren!

I will definitely be out there next year!

How about some go-pro footage links? Did Mike upload any to Youtube?

I'll have to do an ADSI recap from the last two events.

I don't think he has yet, but I'll try to get them up somewhere and post some links.

I think an ADSI recap would be a great contrast to the SCCA / SVT events!

More editing photo editing and side work from home tonight so you can expect a recap of the most recent event at Devens.

On a side note, Myself and a few of the regulars have signed up for the BSCC event on the first of Sept. 55$ 10-12 runs and free food and drink!

Get your spot now before they are full up!

There's an SCCNH event up in S1 lot at Loudon this weekend. I believe it is sold out, but it should be fun! I know there's a few of us on here going up there.
