Just got the U-joint / bushings changed, the one that is closest to the transmission. It was rusted and seized. Significant reduction in rattling, although some of it can still be heard. The part is beaten by salt/sand/road mud, so it seems it doesn't last that long.

edit: what ultimately removed any rattling leftovers were two rubber plumbing O-rings that I've put on the shifter bolt that goes through the fork, on each side of the fork. Transmission shifter buzz totally GONE.

I just bought an 2006 Imp yesterday and noticed this issue driving it home. There were some steep hills that really put it to the test. When I test drove it I didn't rev it up that much. Around and beyond 4000 rpm's the rattling starting to occur. Looks like I have my first project.

Have a look at the heat shield if its a metallic rattle I had a slight rattling in the front end of my car around 3000. It was my heat shield on my headers. It was the 90 elbow covering the primary tubes. Easiest thing to do get a pry bar and pop them off. the other get a scrap piece of aluminum metal and a small bolt wedge the aluminum inbetween the elbow and collector tube heat shield ull c the spot and the bolt the aluminum in place with the bolt.

When mine started rattling I just used hose clamps on them. I'd suggest keeping the shields on though.
