Got a writeup on my current exhaust setup, too!
Help from a BRZ

Hopefully this helps other owners who are looking to do something similar get some ideas for their Imprezas.

haha, thanks! Glad you're enjoying it!

Just got back from a 250 mile trip to a friend's wedding this weekend. Averaged 37.2 mpg with the AC on the whole way!

It's fun having a car perform like this and still not punish me at the pump!

Very nice good sir.
I have seen other pics on here of your car fitted with the 2011 WRX wheels. I happened upon a set for not too much cash and I was thinking of picking them up. What is the fitment like? Do they poke much? Or can you link me to a "down the barrel" pic that I may have missed?

Thanks.

Fitment is great! They don't stick out or anything, though 8 inches wide is as far as I would go on an Impreza before they start going wider than your body panels. I'm not so much a fan of the "tires sticking out the sides" look.

Just make sure you get the right size tire to wrap 'em in. The closest I've found was 225/45R17. I'm using Goodyear Eagle GT tires and I've liked 'em so far.

So we can apply it to other aftermarket 17x8s, what's the offset?

Make sure you put the small vacuum caps on the exposed screw tips for the front set. If you don't do that or something similar they will rattle against the wheel wells.

How fast were you going?

I just got back from a 1000 miles SoCal trip with mostly highway driving...maybe a 100 or so in stop and go traffic...and I got 30MPG. I was doing mostly 80MPH with the A/C on as well.

I have the 2013 Impreza Sport with the 5SPD manual, bone stock.

^^Your 80 MPH speed is what explains the difference between Reverend's 37 MPG and your 30 MPG.

Actually, I'd say that 30 MPG is good for 80 MPH speeds.

sgoldste01 is right on the money... but I'm also cheating a little bit. I've got a CVT, not the 5-Speed. It actually is rated for better gas mileage than the manual, which traditionally hasn't been the case for an automatic-style transmission when compared to a manual transmission.

Did a bit of a writeup on how things have been on my Impreza. Over the weekend, I installed a 19mm STi RSB with Kartboy Endlinks, OEM Side Skirts, Rally Armors, and a Pioneer head unit. > Impreza Upgrades!

Got new pictures up!

I think the black oem spoiler would look good. OBP wing would match the OBP skirts.

Oh I'm not complaining about the 30MPG on the trip. At 80mph w/the AC on, I was quite pleased.

This is my wifes car BTW. She test drove both the CVT and the 5spd. She went with the 5spd. Around town (really short commutes) she is averaging around 27MPG.

It was a nice car to drive 1100 miles in. I wish it had a little more pep (I drive a V6 Tacoma) but that's not why we bought it.

A recent reversal in trends. The increased number of ratios available to modern automatics have allowed for more and more optimization into the most economical powerband for the engine.

The CVT allows nearly infinite selection for the engine computer. A perfect application for this technology. Allowing rabbit quick acceleration when requested from a very low horsepower motor, and giving good gas mileage on a nice long cruise on flat ground.

I would kill to hear how that BRZ exhaust sounds! i heard the previous one you had, and understand that this one is quieter, but still curious as to how it sounds.

I keep getting questions about it, so I think it's high time I finally get out there and record a sample. I had previously thought I could get away with "it's quiet" and leave it at that, but apparently folks don't believe me!

In the meantime, I've managed to do a post about the different wheel setups I've had. Oddly enough, it seems I'm a fan of stock wheels. Of the 3 different wheels I've had, they've been off a '98 Impreza RS, a '05 WRX, and now a '11 WRX. Don't ask me why, but it just seems strange that none of my wheels have been aftermarket brands.

I have to ask, how did you get the little dash trims off (the silver accents) ? Ive been looking everywhere for some guidance and this seems to be the only time Ive seen them mentioned.

I could def use some info on how you raised the exhaust up. I have a 08 wrx with quad tips but every bloody exhaust I put on there hangs low. I'm buying one last exhaust before I have a shop do something about it. Annoying the poop outta me. :/

On a good note, You car looks amazing. Have you ever thought about the sport stuff subaru sells for your car? Like the skirts, lip, spoiler? Stuff like that?

Bakkoda, approach from the underside of the trim pieces. Start on an edge. They just have plastic clips that go into the dash. The one on the passenger side is the easiest one to pop out. The drivers side one required more patience. Just don't scratch up your dash trying to force a screwdriver or something underneath it. I used a plastic wedge to get mine off.

Thanks, Kevin! The reason the exhaust is "raised up" is because it's just using the stock BRZ hangars to connect to the Impreza. To get it to fit, I had to cut out those portions in the bumper, but it means my ride height isn't effected. Honestly, it's one of my favorite features of this exhaust setup.

Awesome! That worked wonderful. Just took some cheap thin plastic from that annoying packaging and slid it around till I felt the clips. Then pried with a trim tool right at the clip and it popped off no problem. Driver side was much harder and it does sort of wear off the clip catch because one is horizontal and one is vertical. They went back together like a charm though.

I had originally planned on wrapping mine as well then I found pics of yours and while yours looks amazing with an all black interior Im not sure I like it with the tan/ivory. I wrapped it anyway but I am gonna hunt for some blue plasti dip.

Gotcha. Yeah, the Carbon Fiber accents on the silver trim pieces and the shifter panel keep things dark, but they add texture and a little sportiness to the interior.
