Exclamation Please help, I pick up my Impreza tomorrow, any tips?

I know to ask for posters. I already agreed on a price. 19,300 over the phone. (keyless, and armrest only) Silver sedan. Did I do all right? What should I do tomorrow? Anything special? Any tips or previous expieriances would be a big help.

And BTW, I am now looking for a silver coupe wing.

Thanks for your time and expertise.

When you pick up the car go over it with a fine tooth comb. I mean before you take it off the lot look for anything no matter how minor. Check the paint for scratches, dings or whatever. Molding, how things line up and what not. Those things in particular once you drive it off the lot they will say happened after you got the car. If you see anything point it out and get it in righting that they will fix it. You're getting a new car so it should be as perfect as possible.
Good luck with the new car.
Most here will agree that you made a fine choice

If it's 19.3 out the door, you did great. If not, you still did good, better than most here.

Look over the car for everything. Treat it as if it's been used until you drive it off the lot. And ask lots of questions from the dealer.

Double and triple check both the paint and warranty. Two big things that you can notice with the naked eye.

Make sure all options are installed and ready to go.

Get the dealer's card and for god's sake hold him to his promises. That's how I get free stuff everytime I go back to Performance Subaru in Chapel Hill. Only reason to go back, really.

I dunno, I just help out with buying used cars, but I guess the same tips could apply.

If the car is a 2001 you did okay, if it was a 2000 model you were taken to the cleaners. Make sure they don't try to add in "Destination" charges since that is already included on the dealer invoice (ask to see the invoice if they try this, and don't let them show you the invoice of another similar car). Most dealerships do have a $250-$300 paperwork charge that you WILL NOT get out of, as occasionally that's all the salesman makes (usually twice that I'm told).

Inspect the car for any scratches and paint chips carefully. My car was delivered with a chip in the windshield, which they fixed. The red car I looked at had a 12" white scratch in the left front fender that probably coulda been buffed out, but nobody buys red Impreza RS's except gurls Also make sure there are no tears in the seats, etc... once you take it home, it will be hard to prove it was there before you took the car.

Ask them to install a clear bra on the front bumper AND front of the hood, and pay whatever they ask because you don't wanna deal with all the rock chips later. Actually, the clear bra for hood alone is about $100 installed, and another $200-$250 to do the bumper. The paint is brittle and sucks. A bug deflector looks good (see on my web site) and will help protect the paint, but the black strap-on Bra's may scartch or wear down the paint over time.

Test the AC and heater, and make sure the actuator doesn't get stuck, or they burn out. Not a huge problem, but not uncommon and mine went out the first couple of days I had it.

Don't let them sell you an extended warrantee without them cutting the price in HALF, not 25% off like they offer to do. with a 6 yr/80,000 mile warrantee, you are only buying three years on the "bumper to bumper" and one year on the "powertrain". And, make sure you get the $50 deductable, not the $100. It's nice to know if the A/C or alternator, etc goes bad in 4-5 years it's covered. But, if it adds $25/mo x 60 months of car payments, you've paid $1,500 and I don't think the car will cost that much to fix until it get's really old. So, how much money would you have to fix it when it get's old when gaining interest?

Plus, if you decide to do engine mods to the car, the warrantee might only cover the non-powertrain stuff like A/C and heater, powerwindows and locks, Alternator and power steering, etc... You get the drift?

Watch out for any offers to add undercoating, since you get a nice rust warrantee anyway, and do the ScotchGuard yourself. My dealer www.heubergermotors.com knew better than to offer these to their customers (or at least not to me).

Good Luck

I am very interested! What kind of condition? how long did you have it on your car before replacing it? Shipping from Canada is gonna suck.

I will either wire you the money or send you a check tomorrow night. I have to wait until tomorrow to Make sure that I will even get the car! But it looks good. I have a fat down payment and a Completely empty credit card slate (now, anyway). I will contact you again, probably sometime tomorrow afternoon, we can work out the details then.
Until then let me know what the quickest and cheapest way to get you the money is. Address and so on. e-mail me back.

No, I didn't get it yet...*sniff, sniff* It (the loan app) has to go before the main approval board on the 27th at 11:30. I might know at about noon. If so, I will hopefully go pick it up around 2-2:30. It is SilverT. nad has keyless and the Center Console arm rest only. It's a '01 and we agreed over the phone at $19,300. I will have to suck it up and swallow the interest that the dealership offers me if My credit union dosn't approve me. That will suck I use the loan calculator on carpoint.com and teh differance will be like $40-$50 a month more! I just keep telling myself..It's a subie though,...it's a subie though..
I will keep you all updated, if you care.... I will have a few small pics too... Untill tommarow night...
