I'll do the rear flap adjustment probably saturday or sunday.
Right now, the first coat of plasti dip is drying on the chrome strip around the grille.
I didnt want to do the *whole* grille. So the bar was first and it went well so now to finish up with that strip.
I left just the subaru center badges alone. For now.

If the strip ends up as decent as the center, I'll be pleased.
The stuff is easy to work with and after drying for ten hours, I've driven in rain and all kinds of dirty mucky roads, and the bugs and debris wash right off with water.
When this stuff wears out or if I just feel like it, I may try vinyl overlays.
It looks so much better blackened!

The deed is done...
Fingers crossed, it went on easy. I was much more confident spraying it this time.
Yeah it would have been easier to do the whole thing, but this way I can always go back to stock with less fuss. Letting 20mins go by ylthen time to go pull the tape off and carefully pull away the excess plasti dip.
Pics to come, even if its less than ideal lighting.

thanks! Its on!
Here it is unwashed after two or three weeks of pretty torrential rains.
I love the blacked out grille. No more plasti-chrome!

Thanks man, I am thoroughly impressed with it. The MUCH firmer seat padding and much tougher material are what really sold me. The seats are the same. But different

I really had my doubts about the plasti dip. But it works great.
I will try vinyl overlay next time.

The blackened grill looks much better. That chrome wing reminds me of the pilots wings you would get as a kid on the airline for visiting the cockpit. (pre 911)
I had to order the mesh grill. Just wait till you see what I'm about to do to the emblem. :evilgrin

Dude! I THOUGHT THE SAME THING!
I used to fly a bit when my mom travelled for business as a kid. I had a whole collection of those wings!
But yes the plasti dip worked wonders. I'm not normally worried too much about aesthetics but it just begged to be blackened...

How are you doing in regards to MPG's

I know this car is rated just under the impreza but I was wondering how much of a hit your tking on the tank.

Most folks have noted that the impreza really opens up on the highway but city figures are less than impressive.

My commute is mostly 60-65% city and thus I avg about 25 mpg's with my limited. Best tank every was 33 mpg. Worst tank was about 22.9 sometime in the winter. As temps have jumped I'm seeing more 25 than anything.

Im seeing about 2mpg difference. Maybe less. Its still a bit early to tell @ 1500 miles.
My experience with the last and current Sube is that I do better around town tuan on the interstate.
Where I live is slightly rural with mostly 40-50mph zones, so I get phenomenal mileage.
At 70 with the cruise on and the ac, on flat ground, my xv or former impreza barely do 30mpg.
55 is where the mpg's really drop.
The gearing on the xv feels a good bit better than the impreza, and around town it feels less bogged down.

Saw something sort of funny on my commute home. I saw this guys suspension totally collapse on the front drivers side of his blinged-out caddy. He didn't even hit anything he just started to slow down to turn and something snapped. IDK maybe it was the huge oversized drug dealer wheels...
Sorry the pic didnt turn out very good, I didnt wanna keep snapping pics and I had to drive anyway.

That Caddy has some nice mods, 23" wheels, old clouded headlights, and recently added custom suspension. Nice combo.
