Yes, 3ft. Longer cable shouldn't be problem unless it's a crappy cable.

Sounds to me like you're not actually charging at 2 Amp...there are apps that will tell you what you're pulling for power, from your charger. Off the top of my head, Elixir is pretty good at a LOT of parameters most people don't know are in an Android.

I've tried using two different 2.1 amp chargers for my car as well as the OEM cable and aftermarket cables they all seem to charge very slow if I plug my tablet into the oem Wall charger it charges fast I don't know what the problem is at this point... Any help would be awesome.

Possibly an issue with the cigarette lighter? I hardwired my adapter to the radio's switched source.

Have you tried Elixir to see your charging amperage trying various things?

Yes I tried elixr it works on my s4 perfectly, tells me the output I'm getting while charging but does not show on my N7 it only says "-" I've tried two different cig ports in my car both same outcome but my s4 on the same car charger same port charges lightning fast... I think it may be a cable issue? Is the stock n7 cable shorted? I could try it in my car with the same charger

Here are my tips...

If the tab is ONLY for your car:

1) Install TOUCH recovery (keep from needing access to the vol/pwr buttons)

2) Flash ROM that supports things like expanded desktop
2.1) Remove all apps that are going to be unused (ie, Phone, Gmail, Contacts, Email, etc)
2.2) Install Bluetooth Autoconnect
2.3) Install GMD Gesture Control (eliminate space wasting navigation bar, setup gestures for "back," "home," "recent apps," and ANYTHING else you can think of.
2.4) Set display wake on power

3) Kernel that supports undervolting and Fast Charge
3.1) careful with undervolting
3.2) underclock the CPU considerably---shouldn't need that much power

4) Tasker
4.1) Power On--sees power from USB
a) Bluetooth on
b) WiFi On
c) Set CPU to min/max
d) Screen timeout to 24hrs (max possible) OR install secure settings and turn off timeout
e) Bluetooth Autoconnect Plugin to connect to radio
4.2) Power Off--disconnected from USB
a) Bluetooth off
b) WiFi Off
c) Set CPU to min/min
d) Screen timeout to 7 secs (min possible) OR install secure settings and turn off display

And of course, most importantly is having a 12v charger/cable combo that does 2.1 amp minimum. Just because the charger is 2.1, does NOT mean the cable does! You can check your charging amps with apps like Elixir

Yeah I don't know what's up with it. I had the hardest time making it actually work all the time then out of the blue it just works all the time from then on.

Has anyone tried use the Nexus 7's camera as a dash cam?

I've been putting together my tablet install plan for a while now, and would really like to incorporate the dash cam with the setup. I'm leaning more toward a GoPro linked to Android, but if the built in camera works well enough day and night, then it'd be a cheaper setup.

In case anyone else got totally confused like me, you can still turn *off* the Nexus 7 (2013) display with Tasker -- just use the System Lock action. Secure Settings is needed to turn it on with power, though.

Also, the ElementalX ROM 1.6 now supports OTG charging, as well as the all-important double-tap or swipe to wake.

Paranoid Android RC2 ROM works with ElementalX 1.6, and allows for fullscreen and pie controls. Versions after RC2 may break with the Nexus 7 due to Cyanogenmod moving away from the AOSP kernel on which ElementalX is based (I believe Paranoid Android uses Cyanogenmod kernel not AOSP).
