This is one of the few build-threads that I follow long term. I've really enjoyed the vision and execution of a somewhat evolved build plan.

We also seem to share a similar choice of electronics...and delays.

Right now I'm still waiting for my ECU. That's been the hold-up for quite awhile now. Having issues (to say the least) with the company that is handling the wiring and electronics. It amazes me that in this industry even some of the most reputable companies are impossible to deal with. Anyway, as soon as that's sorted out we can get the car on track. It still needs a little body work but it's together enough to drive once the ECU issue is taken care of.

Wiring harnesses are all done and ECU is in hand. Electronics setup and the first engine startup are scheduled for 1 week from Thursday, fingers crossed for no more hiccups!

I'll definitely be taking pics and video of the startup. That's a huge moment in any project, especially when it's been in progress for 3 1/2 years!

How do you think we feel? We have had to wait for this moment too. It's being selfish on your part! I've wanted to get to iag to see this thing first hand.

Do you have build specs on the motor anywhere?

No but I can get the full specs from IAG. The basics are Manley pistons, Manley turbo tuff rods, ACL bearings, ARP head studs, Manley valve springs/retainers, Kelford cams. It's a pretty mild engine build, no head work or compression changes or anything too fancy this time around. We'll explore a more involved build in the future but this will do the trick for now.

I thought it was ST1 or ST2? Isn't R reserved for kit cars and tube frame chassis? I thought so, and I thought that was the whole reason for petitioning to move the Panoz back to ST2.

I'm using an IAG rotated kit with a GTX30R (Tial housing). It includes their header and uppipe.

Unless they decide to make some rule changes for next year, I'll be in STR2 for NASA, although I could also turn up the power and run in ST1. I'm also looking at doing some NARRA USGT races and possibly SCCA STO. The NASA ST classes in the Mid-A have been pretty weak in terms of numbers for the past couple years so I've been considering several alternatives.

When I was there Saturday they were still getting ready. So much work into that car it's mind boggling.

I have such a crush on IAG

No, things didn't go exactly as planned this weekend but we're still a big step closer. All of the electronics were set up successfully and they were able to get ignition and the fuel pumps were working correctly. It would crank over but for some reason, the injectors wouldn't fire. We were there until 4am while they tried everything but no luck.

So, MoTeC is making some tweaks to the base calibrations and sending a firmware update that should get the car started on Wednesday or Thursday of this week. There are a few other small changes that need to be made as well, like a different throttle pedal position sensor. All in all, it's very close to running but that one small issue stood in the way. The M1 series ECU has never been used on a subaru before so I expected there might be some hurdles. Hopefully better news in a few days!

That's a shame but, it's still good they made some progress. 4 am damn, that would explain why JJ said he was working the second shift on FB yesterday. Lol

I can't wait to hear that thing run!
