Default For Those of You That do Use Mobile 1

Hello,

I am not looking to change brands of motor oil but I was curious if any has used Mobile 1 Super Synthetic. Do you think it is better than Mobile 1 Full Synthetic? Like I said before I am not looking to change manufactures. Just curious on the different formulation.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hint: The "Super Synthetic" is Mobil oil, but not Mobil1 oil.

http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...il_Super_FAQs1

With a WRX, you want to stick with "Mobil1" oils and only those that do not say Resource Conserving in the API donut on the back (the GF5 oils).

i noticed, today, that the engine is a lil noiser with the 0w40 M1.....was at a drive through and noticed a bit more engine noise than usual after driving on the highway at 75mph for 30 or so miles....but i kinda expected that and it does NOT mean there is anything wrong.....

i think that is showing the difference in viscosity at full operating temp because i didnt notice the noise at idle when the engine wasnt fully warmed up

i might end up spiking the 0w40 with a quart of my fav, the 10w40 racing 4T or the 15w50.....mmmmmmmmmmm

Yeah, some people notice that Mobil1 in general makes their cars noisier.

I thought you were a RT6 guy. Why the switch to M1 0w-40?

If you read the manufacturer's spec sheets on the Mobil 0W-40 and the Rotella T6 5W-40, they are almost identical.

I can get both @Walmart, but the Mobil1 is significantly cheaper

I would word it "less expensive", as "cheaper" implies bad quality.

I too use M1 0w-40. It meets the European ACEA A3 and VW/Audi 502
standards.

The Aussies are freaking out right about now.

Mobil 1 Engine Oil - 0W-40, 5 Litre Price: $94.95 EACH

And that's the older API SM version.

I have ran Mobil 1 full synthetic for 2 oil changes...planned on changing to Pennzoil Ultra on this one because I have read that it is much better and still good for warranty.

Yesterday I did a canyon run.. 2nd gear full rpm range whole time... Prob. 30 miles. I change the oil today and it is 1 quart low (probably burnt yesterday) but the oil that came out was like water. I have never seen it like that before.

Mobil1 email says there is a $12 rebate for 5 liters. Rebate is $15 for 5 liters and a Mobil 1 filter but I am kind of meh on the filters for the price.

Limited retailer options for NorCal... guess Amazon may work.
