Default 02 bugeye bumper on gc?

Okay so a friend of mine picked up a bugeye front bumper because it was misadvertised as an "01" because of the production date on the door. He was looking to get a 2.5rs bumper for my 99 sedan. After looking at it, the overall dimensions of the bumper are almost the same (height, width, depth) it almost looks as though with a little modification the bumper might actually fit. Just curious has anyone else attempted this?

Also debating on selling the bumper if it doesnt appear that itll work on my car.If that happens Ill list it in the classifieds.

Check out this thread http://www.rs25.com/forums/f4/t17925...cs-inside.html

Probably won't be an easy conversion or fit perfect by any means

I've see it done with the front half of GD fenders welded to the back half of GC fenders and a GD hood. I thought it looked like poo.

Okay so when I matched up the bumpers (placed the bugeye right in front of my car) everything seemed like itd roughly fit.. I figured just trim of the little bit where it comes up around the bottom of the bugeyes headlights and kinda flatten it out (glass it maybe) but in the link theyre talking about having to chop and swap halves of the bumpers and cutting fenders and such. I like the look on the photoshop the guy had considering my car is also silver like his examples I could clearly see how it would look. However Im not going into cutting apart my entire front end to fit it.

@ravenlunatic: the bumper is green, still has the impreza fog light inserts too

curious if this would work, even if the corners have to be trimmed and masked with overfenders

I like the blob eye bumper conversion, looked killer compared to the others plus someones had done that already so its definitely possible

The headlights/Front fascia on different model years,

MY02-03 is know as 'Bug-eye'

MY04-05 is known as 'Blob eye' or 'Peanut eye'

MY06-07 is known as 'Hawk Eye'

MY08- Current is known as .... ( Nothing i'v heard that sticks)

I've been toying with doing this because the bugeye bumpers are easy to find and fairly cheap compared to the v5-6 bumpers. And I would presume the wagon bumpers fit better than the sedan bumpers...?

There are no turn signals in these bumpers either so you'll have to move it somewhere but that's an easy fix.

EDIT: nvm about who did it... last time I looked at the rs25 thread it was only photoshop pics... looks good!

It might work but dosen't look like any other bumper looks right on a gc8 but a gc bumper

Looks like this guy cut his gc8 bumper in half and used a 04-05 sti bumper and molded on to the top half of the gc8 bumper

Just for kicks: Kinda off topic but here's a photoshop pic of a GD with GC front end

if you looked at the rs25 link above you'd see this:

so it's obviously possible. Of note, that is a wrx sedan bumper which would not have been my logical choice. I would think the wagon (being the same width as the GC) would have fit better but obviously the sedan bumper fits nicely.

Except it doesn't

Note the gaps under the headlamps (in particular the notch for the bugeye headlamps) the gamps around the grille, and if you look at it from the side the curve of the GD wheel arch is different and looks "abrupt" on a GC. For a race car (like you posted) fine, who cares. For a street car it looks like **** and takes way too much labor to be worth it. I have seen it done a few times and it never looks right. Hell, I put one on my old Outback when I tore the front cover offroading. It physically fits in place, but to make it look right is just not worth it.
