Default How much will a 1999 forester engine swap cost?

I have a 1999 Forester with a blown engine. And would like to do a wrx swap.
How much is it going to cost?
I have a family mechanic that will be doing the swap with me. So I won't have to pay for labor.
I have a budget around 4000 can I do it?

And can you point me to any threads that will help I have read a ton just looking for the best one to help me

Thanks

Default Swap

That could work depending upon which heads you use. Having someone who knows Subarus is very valuable.
