Default Suggestion for blown head gasket what should I do?

Sry to ask i know that a lot of ppl have ask the same question already but i dont know what to do with the car. The shop just told me that I have a blown head gasket. I not sure if I want to put new gasket in or not because its costly. I'm thinking about selling the car out cause I don't have the money to put in the part. What do you guys think. Car is at 104k only.

Well, where is it blown, and what were the symptoms?

Your only two options are really to replace it, or sell it. It sounds like you don't want to replace it, so... You could probably get a couple of locals together and pull the engine / replace it on your own, if you were able ( have personally helped another member do this in the same fashion. )

Good luck!

Well first of all I'm new to Subaru and I live up north of California in the humboltd county area so I don't know of any Subaru guys up here. And I'm new to this place. I know that is not that much to put in a head gasket yourself. But like I said I'm new to this place and have no tools and place at all. I don't want to be pulling it out by myself because Subaru are different. Coming from Honda and Toyota don't make me an expert in Subaru. I can borrow tools from friends and family here but I can't do it it by myself.

I might just sell the car. If that makes it easier and I don't want to spend the on it for a shop to have it replace. But who would want to buy the car?

Somebody that has the money and is capable of replacing it. Most likely, someone that can do it on their own. You could just trade it in at a dealer if the symptoms aren't blatently obvious... but you didn't hear that from me :P

I have read forum around and looking at price on head gasket replacement and it looks like the local dealership here is ****. They charge 4500 for head gasket job and it look like it only cost about 2 k. To have it done.

Try AJ Imports 2.5 hours away in Redding. Awesome work at extremely fair prices...

Yeah that's cool. So the next buyer wanting a wrx has to deal with this issue. What a dirt bag.

Only you can make the decision, if you rely on strangers on the internet then you have no business owning a car. Selling the car because it has a problem is idiotic.
