Default Blown vf39 to used vf48 on 04 sti. Possible with out immediate tune?

Long story short, bought a 04 sti, don't really know all the complete history but planning to rebuild the block and upgrade the turbo sooner or later. Anyways I blew my Vf39 and the only local inexpensive replacement I can find is a vf48 that's used. My budget is limited at the moment so I'm just wondering if I am able to put the vf48 on my car and then drive it to the tuners shop that's probly 45 mins to a hour from my house. I've searched the threads and google with no definite explanation, mostly hearsay. Please keep the wise remarks and opinions that I should just go bigger outta here. Just looking for a simple technical explanation. I appreciate any help.

No wise remarks.....why not.

1. Call your tuner and talk to him. He may have a limp map.
2. Call your tuner and talk to him. He will have this answer.
3. Call your tuner and talk to him. You are paying him hundreds of dollars, so why not get advice from the horse's mouth rather than internet idiots.

I would bolt it up and drive to the tuner's shop utilizing zero boost, but that's an internet opinion.

Yes, stay out of boost and it's completely fine.
