Default Bulkhead wiring harness??

Is there any part of the bulkhead wiring harness that is required for performing a MY02 WRX swap into the GC8??

Well all of the wiring for the ECU's power, grounds, guages, and most of the engine wiring run through the bulkhead harness on the 02 WRX. It's up to you how you want to rewire the car. It's a PITA to pull that harness out, and I didn't get all of it when I did mine because I cut it where it enters the fender for the engine's wiring. Then rewired just the stuff I needed into a stand alone wiring harness.

Oh OK....

You see, I'm doing the wiring myself and am just looking into what I need to source to get my car up and running. I just want to be sure I get everything I need the first time!

So basically you can just pull the existing harness all the way out, and put the usdm wrx in its place

Default not to totally hijack the thread, but...

I have a Bulkhead Wiring Harness for sale. It's Subaru part number 81402FE010. It's a brand new factory replacement item, not pulled from a car.

Check out some of the online suppliers, you'll see that the list price is over $800 on this thing.

I'm selling it cheap enough that you could afford to tear it up and use parts of it to make your swap work.

If anyone could use it, drop me an email to ultrasonic@fastrans.net and make an offer. I have pictures available if anyone wants to see it.

Someone take this off my hands and put it to good use, please!

Thanks for reading...

I'm not trying to be a dick, but the part you have is the instrument cluster harness, not the bulkhead harness, huge difference.

The bulkhead harness is the spine of the car so to speak. The instrument cluster (radio, dash, switches, etc) plugs into it under the dash, the electrical wiring harness (fuse boxes, lights, ABS) plugs into it in the engine bay, the engine harness (injectors, motor sensors, ignition coil) plugs into it in the engine bay, and the rear and door cords plug into it under the dash. The ECU plugs directly into it and controls mostly everything. The bulkhead harness runs through the firewall at two different locations and the fender once.

How much of the harness you need will depend on how much you plan on changing in your car.

I appreciate your not trying to be a dick.

Here is what I can tell you about the wiring harness that I have:

The Subaru label from the box that this harness came in says "WIRING HARN CTR BHD" which I understand to mean -wiring harness, center, bulkhead. I may be wrong.

When I enter the Subaru part number 81402FE010 at subaruparts.com is says "Harness Bulkhead." Check out this link to see for yourself:
http://www.subaruparts.com/cart/?pn=81402FE010

The part number on the item corresponds to the label on the box, and the parts supplier on line shows this part number as a "bulkhead wiring harness." I figure the least I can do is be accurate about what Subaru calls this part.

You can call it whatever you want.

On the other hand, you have only seen a picture of this harness. You may, or may not be qualified to tell what it is, just from the picture. I don't know. Of course, anyone who considers buying it should research it so that they know what they need, and what they are getting.

You may be right- this may connect to the instrument cluster. I don't know. But I'm pretty sure that since Subaru calls it a Bulkhead Wiring Harness, I'll call it a Bulkhead Wiring Harness. Subaru does not call it an "Instrument Cluster Harness." Of that I am sure.

All I'm trying to do is get a part that I don't need into the hands of someone who can use it. This is an expensive thing, someone should take advantage of quite a deal if they could use it.

If anyone would like a picture of the item, I'll be happy to send it to you.

Default your wiring harness

Would you be interested in selling the wiring harness out of your GM6(the stock one)? I need the wiring from the ECU to the engine, at least I think so. Does anyone know exactly what I need to make my engine run out of the car (I.E. On the dyno)? I might need an ECU also, so if you're selling that, let me know.
Thanks.
