I was curious as this doesn't sound like a profession where carrying guns is the norm. Like I said, I'm only asking because CCW'ing two guns and extra ammo seems a bit extreme. I'm curious as to why someone would have to do that, assuming it wasn't necessitated by their job.
Its the smart thing to do. A gun could always go down and magazine failures are the biggest cause of autos malfunctioning. I don't tend to CCW two guns but I wont fault anyone who does.

Any gun you carry you should always carry extra ammo. Ive never been in a gunfight and thought "I have too much ammo".

Just what kind of training do you have where you can survive in a situation requiring more than 6 or 7 rounds?

I do the same thing--but only to make sure I know what to do in a real-life situation.

COD? That's not a gunfight. You want gunfight, you do Airsoft like I do. It'll make a man out of you.

Hahahahaha. You must be new here.

All joking aside. Yes I do have fairly sufficient training in gun fighting and I have been in several gun fights. I still occasionally pull small pieces of shrapnel out of my left arm.

Shot a SW MP 9mm and XDM 9mm last night at the c2tactical range and like both guns but I will probably purchase the XDM compact 9mm. Originally I liked the PNH PNX or PNS 9mm, but since my gf didn't like the grip the PNH opted out so we are going more comfortable for the both of us. Her first time shooting and learning so itll be fun.

It isn't the norm.

The reason I do, though, is because I can do so comfortably. My backup piece is small & light. I can fully conceal my loadout with just a pair of jeans & an untucked t-shirt.

I also carry a streamlight flashlight & cold steel folding knife (yes, doing that wears a hole in the back pocket, but only a small one).

So, I'm not penalized heavily in comfort or concealment with my chosen loadout, so the question in my situation isn't "why would you?" but rather "why not?"

I think you are missing the point...

I believe his point is, it isn't how many you can comfortably carry, it's WHY are you carrying so much in an environment that doesn't seem to warrant it.

Oh, and..

Most malfunctions in semi auto guns come from the magazine. So carrying a spare mag is a good idea.

Carrying a second gun is also a good idea incase your first gun goes down. Also in a really bad situation you could loan out your second gun to a coworker or friend.

Say the OP has an active shooter situation in his building and hunkers down in his office. He could give his second gun to a coworker and they can guard multiple entry points and have multiple guns in the fight if need be.

Went out shooting some long range steel this morning. Rifles were a 308 Remington 700 V and a Daniel Defense AR15. Target was a 2/3 sized IPSC steel and was at 504 yards.

All in all not a bad way to spend a Thursday morning.

My old man behind the 308.

Target afterwards.

Drew Stafford area. I have a Winchester 70 in 300WSM. Bushnell Elite scope. Really an elk gun but it will certainly drop a Muley too

Nice setup. Yeah it's a little much for muleys but if you shoot it well then who cares. I've been eyeing a Winchester 70 Extreme Weather model in 30-06 as my go to all around hunting rifle. Just need to save up the money.

I have a win model 70 in 30-06 that I haven't shot yet. Had it 2 or 3 years.
I shoot pistol competitions every month though.
