To:gsrcrxsi,
Thanks, yeah rubbing is my concern and i figured that's why i haven't seen any yet. 1cm 5mm just doesn't seem like it would make that much difference.

You can't just say blanket '45s', that doesn't tell you direct sidewall height. It tells you sidewall height as a ratio based on tire width.

You could probably fit 225/45 18's, but that is going to be pretty extreme. And silly (IMO)

I know a guy who has 245/40R18's on his widebody and they fit (with a +45 wheels) but it's pretty extreme on tire height. And about 5mm shorter then a 225/45R18.

Not to sound mean, but if you are bending rims on a 225/45R17 (215/50?) setup... It's not the tires fault, imo..

It was a 205/50R17 Stock rim and tire. Yeah deep yet narrow pot hole on a back road filled to the rim with water, and it was night so it was impossible to see. but the rim was able to be fixed.

Ahh, thanks, did some reading into what you meant by ratio... Was thinking that the second # was just the side wall measurement. (seems like that would be much simpler)

The Rims I picked up are 18x8 with a + 40. They currently have (Very worn) 225/40R18 and just seem alittle thin. Our roads suck over here in PA and NJ I'm Stock suspension at the moment but my struts are jello so lowering is gonna happen in the near future. With my new knowledge it looks like 235/40R18 might be my best bet. Not sure 245/40R18s would work on an 8" rim? Suggestions?

245/40 will fit on the 18x8 wheel. but I wouldn't recomend it at all. And it'd likely rub on your vehicle also.

I currently run a 235/40 on a 18x8 (+45) and love it. It's definatly thinner (shorter) on the sidewall then what you are used to. But nothing dangerous, except for massive potholes covered with water...

I hit one such pothole and blew out a tire (235/40/18 Conti DWS), Rota Gravel survived unscathed. I went back to a 245/40 for more sidewall (pilot supersports). I'm on 18x8.5 +44. I'm rolled and pulled with -2 front camber with a modest drop. No issues now. Did not clear stock!

dying to put on my wheels(enkei nt03 18x9.5 +40) and having to wait for funds to be available is the worst. just gotta decide on what tire size to go with that wont require extensive modification to the fenders. debating on either 245/35 or 255/35.

Both will require a roll and possibly a slight pull especially if your lowering car... I have those exact wheels and w/ 245/35 and I had to roll and slight pull all 4 fenders

gotcha. yea im plannin on gettin coilovers here shortly and gettin them on before mounting my wheels to the car. prob going to just install it as is out of the box or lower it a tad depending on fender to wheel gap.

are the tires stretched at all with the 245 size tires?

Can someone tell me if I'm going to have fitment issues with this setup. Im lowered on h&r springs with koni adjustables 1.4" in the rear and 1.3" in the front, 18x8 with 48mm offset rim. I want to mount a 245/40/18 on there. Will I have rubbing issues? I'm currently running a 225/40/18 on my car with no issues. Will the 245 work?

IIRC, the 245 will work however you may have to roll the rears a little or deal with slight rubbing on large bumps and hard cornering ... I believe if you go with a 235 you'll be fine with no issues

Any amount of work and you can make em work.

It's a big ass tire though.

I'd say a roll if needed but it is a high offset 8" wheel so you could be fine.

Rolling isn't a big deal if done properly.

Inner clearance could be a concern with a +48 and 245's, but I'm guessing a bit.

Planning to go 18x8.5 +38 with Work Emotion Kiwami's and I was wondering if anyone had a similar set up along with suspension etc. If not would anyone know if this would work without any fender modifcations?

Similar fitment to a 9" wheel with +44 offset (which I have). You'll likely have to roll the rears slightly to avoid rubbing.

That's assuming you run a 245 width tire (which would fit perfectly on that wheel size)

Do you have any pictures of your setup? Does it poke?
EDIT
Sorry for all the questions this is my first car and legit all I've done so far is read things about my car on forums and what I could do to it.
I was planning on running BC coilovers and was wondering if the fitment would be flush or would it be too low with the wheel size?

Anybody have experience with the xxr527 wheels? I can only seem to find them in 17x8.25 with a 35 offset. I don't want to have to roll or pull any fenders but I really like the look and price of them. I'm just unsure because of how low the offset is. I'm on stock suspension too btw. 09 wrx
