Default Grinding noises. HELP!

If I'm posting in the wrong thread let me know. My wrx has a grinding clanking sound when I start the car, but goes away after it cranks. But then there is another notice that sounds a bit like grinding but more like a air leak right in front of driver side dash. It gets louder with rpms. Just to clarify I think my powersteering is going out due to a jerk in the wheel when at a stop and the belt squeals a bit. All fluids are fine and car drives fine, but the noises are scary. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Your first issue sounds like starter drag. The second one sounds like you need to tighten the belts

the belt squeal could be caused by a loose serpentine belt, there should only be a quarter inch of play when you push on it with your hand. The jerky power steering could be a worn out pump... Does it feel really hard to turn the steering wheel under normal conditions?

No it turns fine when driving. It only jerks when the wheel is turned all the way to left or right, which I'm not doing while driving lol. But I have bigger problems now. I put up a new thread cause I found a grinding noise coming from my driver side cylinder. It's too much for me to handle so I just took it in today. I'll keep ya updated, thanks guys

starter problem was fixed, except the piece that broke off inside the bell housing that is now clanking around the flywheel. But the other grinding noise is still there, with the mechanic saying its that piece of metal flopping around in there, which its not due to the fact that the noise rises and falls with the rpms exactly.
