Default Logging an Ecutek'ed ECU

I wonder if romraider's logger & learning view would work on an Ecutek'ed ECU?
I can't seem to make any type of connection to a 03 JDM STi ECU!
Logger won't connect
Learning view won't connect (passthru error)
Ecuflash won't connect (kernel get version error)
The only thing that seems to work is a commercial OBD scanner, reading/erasing fault codes.

I did swap the ECU installing another JDM 03 ECU on the car & all worked fine & I was able to read the rom image.

So now the only 2 possibilities I can think of are either ECU damage or that the ECU had been Ecutek'ed, but I'm under the impression that the logger & LV software would still work on an Ecutek'ed ECU!

I'd appreciate your input guys

If your ECU has been tuned with EcuTek you won't be able to read with the OpenPort/EcuFlash but you shouldn't have any problem logging with the OpenPort using a micro SD card. Not sure about Learning View.

I don't have an SD card plugged in my tactrix connector. But RR logger doesn't seem to see the ECU at all!

If you want to give logging on the micro SD card a try, there are sample configuration files under the EcuFlash install directory, which would likely be here if you accepted the default install location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenECU\EcuFlash\samples\logging

If your phone has a micro SD card you could give that a try to verify it works okay. We like to use 2GB cards because the FAT 16 format gives the best response time and will still log for days and days without filling up due to the compact format we use for logging.

I'm sorry if my post title was misleading, but my main goal is to fully tune this ECU not just log it. Therefore I need to determine why no software is communicating with it?

Only if anyone here with ecutek experience would confirm whether that RR logger & LV do or don't work with an Ecutek'ed ECU?

Logging aside then, what do you plan on using for reflashing the ECU?

ECUTEK locks the ECU from other flash methods. You need to contact an ECUTEK dealer who can unlock your ECU and flash back to some base-map kind of thing if you want to do tuning with ECUFlash / Romraider.

Well, if I can confirm that it was indeed ecutek'ed then I'll either send it to an Ecutek dealer or attempt to do a SHbootmode flash which I've read about.

Otherwise, I'll have to assume that the ECU is faulty & purchase a replacement.

It's such a puzzle that LV is not communicating with this ECU!

I'm not 100% sure it was Ecutek'ed! What about leaning view, does it work on an Ecutek'ed ECU or not?

Learning view only works on specific ECU IDs. I know that, for example, applying Merps mods for 32 bit ECUs breaks learning view capability... at least for some of them.

LV is closed source and thus we don't know a whole lot about it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't read ECUTEK ECUs.

I decided to simply replace the ECU & get a second ECU to be able to tune this car.
Thanks all for the feedback.
