is this why toto was brought in? succession plan, possibly? hes been at lots of races this season and not every executive director is at that many races, to my knowledge. And this is great, not that ross has any direct effect on the development of the mclaren...but right now weve got a stiff-as-a-board front limited car with a lack of balance. Now itll start chewing up rear tires

Did anyone see the pre-qualifying interview with JEV? Dude is the biggest whiner.

Interviewer "how has your season gone"
"oh ive been quite unlucky..." and goes on to list 2 or maybe 3 instances where he had some bad luck and ricciardo didnt. yeah, thats why you didnt get the drive at RBR, obviously

no, you suck. and you have been outqualified by your teammate 10-4 even though you call him lucky. ha.

They're all whiners and would finish first if it weren't for every other car on track, the conditions, the tires, the strategy and the moon's gravitational forces. I thought the worst of the weekend was DiResta blaming his Q2 pace on coming upon Bianchi in Q1. Get out of F1, you can't even finish a race and think you deserve a better drive? You're lucky Hulk left for Sauber or you'd really be seen for what you are.

diresta is really crap, and listening to the british announcers who still continue to fawn all over him is really, really annoying.

The hulk needs to get some anti-hulk serum to fit in a nice mclaren or lotus cockpit, that guy is an absolute genius. what a drive. drive of the year, shame it wasnt a podium. grid interview with skyf1, he was so cool and collected, "what can you do from 7th?" and he just grinned.

There's a slight problem with that, because it's pretty clear that Vettel's engine sounds like a TC system BEFORE he gets on the gas.

The way I heard it the sound quickly transitions to normal on the power sound. His engine doesn't sound like that when he lifts entering the corner. Not saying that I'm convinced he has TC yet but something is clearly different and he does get on the gas way earlier than the cars that follow.

Interlagos gets new deal until 2020

The Brazilian Grand Prix will continue to be held at Interlagos until 2020 after the circuit signed a new contract.

The old contract for the race was due to expire in 2014, but Bernie Ecclestone has agreed a new deal with Sao Paulo mayor Fernando Haddad that will ensure Interlagos remains on the Formula One calendar for the next seven seasons.

A key condition of the new agreement is the construction of a new pit and paddock complex at the circuit. The new development will be located on the straight between turns 3 and 4, with construction due to begin next year and be completed in time for the 2015 race.

Interlagos first hosted a non-championship grand prix in 1972 and then a championship race the year after. It has been the venue of the Brazilian Grand Prix on 30 occasions in total.

Maria de Villota: Former Formula 1 reserve driver found dead in Seville

Former Formula 1 reserve driver Maria de Villota has been found dead in a hotel room in Seville, Spain.

The Spaniard suffered serious head and facial injuries in an accident in July 2012 when testing for the Marussia team in Cambridgeshire.

However the 33-year-old was cleared to drive again in February.

De Villota, daughter of former Spanish F1 driver Emilio de Villota, had previously raced in Spanish Formula 3 and the Daytona 24 Hours.

F1 teams and drivers have expressed their shock at the news.

Caterham reserve Alexander Rossi, an occasional analyst for BBC Sport, said: "Absolutely stunned and heartbroken to hear Maria De Villota has passed away. My thoughts and prayers go out. We will never ever forget you."

Mercedes added: "Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Maria de Villota following the tragic news of her passing.

"Her courage, determination and hope were an example and inspiration to many. She will be sadly missed by our sport."

Dead of apparent suicide is what I expected to read.

Guess I am a pessimist. Could have been lingering effects of the injury, then? Its a shame.

That was my first thought as well. Most "found dead in hotel room" stories are not from natural causes. Either way

so crazy!!!! If the death has no connection to the crash, meaning like some internal bacteria from the surgery or what ever, then i believe so it could be suicide. Shame man.

from wiki

Death

On the morning of 11 October 2013, exactly one year from her first public appearance after her testing accident, Spanish media reported that de Villota had been found dead in her Seville hotel room;[19] Eurosport reported that her family had confirmed her death.[20]

An autopsy confirmed de Villota died of natural causes after suffering a cardiac arrest, with all indications that the underlying cause may have been due to a 'detachment of brain mass' as a result of her 2012 accident.[21]

At the time of her death, de Villota was scheduled to participate as a speaker at the Seville Fundación Lo Que De Verdad Importa (LQDVI) conference and was due to launch her autobiography Life Is a Gift on 14 October.[21]

Race driver Sean Edwards killed as car hits wall at Queensland Raceway at Willowbank

The Porsche driver is the son of F1 race car driver Guy Edwards and recently coached drivers on the film set of Rush.

He also played his father in some scenes, including the climactic scene in which he saved German Niki Lauda in a fiery crash.
the irony

I think he was killed on impact from what I've read. Driver/student was pinned in the car for 3 hours, but lived, right?
