I've searched the threads and can't seem to find a problem like mine.

I have an 02 wrx...After following instructions, I can get the car to enter in program mode with a chirp. I just can't get the remote to pair. I've had 2 people try with 2 different fobs. When I pull out the key, car chirps 3 times. It seems everything is working except the pairing.

Any thoughts?

I should add that the new fob (from EBAY) has a good battery and the lights up when I press the buttons.

Default 2006 Subaru Impreza Key Fob Issues

My key fob is not working properly, the lock button works on the fob, but, when I use the unlock button, that fob button doesn't work.......I don't think that it is a battery issue since the lock button works.......what I do now is lock it with the fob, then I open the door with the key, then the alarm goes off, I hit the lock button (which stops the alarm) then I unlock button on the car and that lets me start the car.

Anybody have the same problems

Does anybody know about the KARR alarm system that they provide at subaru when you buy your car? Does all subaru provide this alarm system? If so how well is this alarm system? how bad is it?

OEM still does not have the options/features aftermarket does.

Is there any way to enable automatic passive arming without going to the dealership? When I bought my 2011 Sti it was already enabled, I just didn't know it. When I got my 2013 it wasn't enabled but I got used to it... so of course I thought something was wrong with the car, hurrrrr. Now that I'm used to it I really like it. So, is this a dealer only thing?

If you open up the remote, you will probably find that the button came off of the circuit board for the unlock button. It's really small, so be careful when you open the remote. I have had luck super-gluing it back on by getting all four contacts to match up. If you can't do that, then you need to get a new remote

Recently purchased a 2008 WRX STi hatch and want to know if this unlock behaviour is normal.

When I press the unlock on the keyfob all doors unlock but then every passenger door locks leaving only the drivers door unlocked, pressing unlock a second time unlocks all the passenger doors.

I know that the single press = driver and double press = passenger unlock but what I want to know is why do all doors temporarily unlock then lock (apart from the drivers)?

On my Suzuki Swift the unlock signal was only sent to the drivers door on one then remaning doors on the second unlock.

The car came with a Mongoose MAP80 but has been replaced with a Cobra AK4615 - both canbus alarms. The alarm keyfob unlocks all doors at once, it's just the Subaru key which exhibits that strange unlock/lock

My FOB, when pressing Lock, doesn't sound the horn always on the 2nd press. Sometimes I have to press it once, hear the chirp, pause, and press it twice in a 1-2 fashion, to get the horn to sound.

Could it be that my remote is just dying? Needs new battery etc?

I'm having trouble programming my new remote code with my 2006 WRX. I have the code from the sticker inside, and I'm able to enter the number registration phase to enter each individual number with the lock/unlock button. I go through the number sequence once, then again, and after the 2nd sequence the car beeps, but doesn't do the self-locking like in Rexy's instructions:
Quote:
When finished entering the code the second time, a beep will be heard and the door locks will operate on their own, indicating the remote is programmed.
After waiting for a short period, the car errors out with "beep-beep-beep" and the remote doesn't work. It does this every time.

I've tried to enter the code a third or fourth time and it doesn't seem to make a difference (I suspect it would be anticipating entering another remote's code). Does anyone know if there is a step missing to tell the car, "I'm done, that was the code, save it, and exit programming?"

It has the matching the FCC ID of my original remote and the battery is not an issue.

Thanks!

It is a setting in the ECM that can only be changed with the Subaru computer. Your dealer should do this minor adjustment at no charge. Just remember, it will only arm the system. It doesn't lock the doors for you.

I suspect the reason why you are having an issue is because you are using the Subaru remote with the aftermarket system. That is not how the Subaru system works, however, it may be how the aftermarket system works. Do you have a remote for the aftermarket system? Does it do the same thing? It could also be how the aftermarket system was installed.

First, make sure you installed the battery the right way. Dumb, I know, but I still do it when I'm not paying attention.

Try reprogramming the remote. Depending on how long it may have been dead, it may have lost the programming.

Does the remote do anything?

If you hear the 'chirp', your car should be locked. Hearing the horn is only a signal to let you know that it is definitely locked. Its not a 'requirement' to know the doors are locked.

Are you removing the key after getting the signal. The programming steps are in your owners manual beginning on page 2-10

Hey guys need some help. Bought the car without the fob. Just purchased a replacement fob but I can not get it to program. I can't get the key turn you key ten times to work either. I followed all instructions but it won't work. The car beeps when I lock the doors manually and shut the door. I don't have an alarm and I have already tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Thanks

Rexy, sorry about the late reply. The car's been sitting since I posted, so I sort of lost track of everything and haven't had a chance to look into it. I need a new car battery before I can even try again (it was giving up the ghost a month ago). Frustrating.

I was not removing the key after getting the signal. If I'm supposed to be doing that, I haven't seen a key removal step in any of the instructions I've seen for the teardrop remote for 2006, which I have. That's probably my fault. I do see that in the instructions for 2001-2006... not sure about the overlap.

I didn't realize it was in the owner's manual, but I'll definitely check when I get a chance. Thanks!

I checked out the owner's manual on Subaru's website, which says,
Quote:
When you have finished entering the code a second time, an electronic tone will sound for one second and automatic door locking and unlocking operation will take place once to indicate completion of registration, provided the code entered the second time is identical to that entered the first time.
as you said in your instructions... However, that was not happening. I did it so many times (probably murdering my car battery), I'm certain I entered it twice correctly at least once. The NEXT step says to remove the key from the ignition...

BUT I also noticed a discrepancy for my car from your & the owner's manual instructions: When turning the key 10 times (I spent a long time on this step, too), I DON'T turn it all the way back to Lock each time. I turn it to the position just behind lock. THEN it works. I found this out in a thread about the MY03 key fob programming and tried it, and it worked. I'm pretty good at following directions, but when the directions don't match up, it's naturally confusing.

Any thoughts??? I'll try the key removal instead of waiting for automatic lock/unlock when I get a new car battery in the next couple of days.

So, when I hit the lock/unlock my car will blink once/twice but only sometimes will the lock motor lock/unlock. I just replaced the battery in the fob. Interior lights dim/brighten accordingly, so I think that rules out the fob. It's all 4 doors + hatch that do not lock/unlock. The interior button works intermittently as well - if the fob won't lock/unlock it, neither will the buttons. In slightly warmer weather, the doors will lock/unlock but I live in SoCal, where I think weather variance is minimal. When I run the car for a while, it seems to work with greater consistency, but I drive the car daily.

Anyone else with this issue?

Idk what's going on... I don't get any audible feedback inside the vehicle but I do get a beeping noise from the outside after I do step 1 but the door locks keep clicking like normal when I try to program the key and I don't get any other feedback besides those couple beeps after completing the key cycle in the first step.

You need a remote to put it in valet mode.
