Default The Great Pumpkin Rally

The Great Pumpkin Rally

Are you ready for a Halloween sign hunt? How about some east Texas scenery? And we have lots of puns for your enjoyment! No special car needed. Just a full tank of gas, pencil and a sense of humor.

Date - Saturday, October 26, 2013
Start Fiat of McKinney
800 N Central Expressway
McKinney, TX 75070
Registration opens at 9:00 am
Safety Briefing 10:00 am
First Car out 10:30am
Ending Downtown Paris for the Festival of Pumpkins (arts, crafts, antiques and other stuff!)
Preregister (or more information) at msreg.com/GPR13msr

A Texas Region SCCA event: Rallymasters, Richard and Juanita Miller.

We had four Subarus in our last rally, and one of them won the whole thing! Robert and Phil came in first overall in the STi. Congrats!

from the registration page:
The Rally Fee is $20.00 for SCCA Members, and $25.00 for non-members. There is a $5.00 late fee if not preregistered here. There are four classes: First Timer, Novice (<3 rally trophies), General, and Master.

There must be at least 2 people old enough to read in every rally car.

I always drive alone.
Does this mean I can't pay and drive?

I don't like to do the paperwork anyway.
If the route is clear and the Rally is all about getting all of the jokes, I'm happy just to drive and ignore all the rest....
i jus likes ta drive....

I'm afraid so. You know that texting and driving is dangerous, right? So is trying to follow a rally course AND find just the right sign when you are all alone.

The route will be easy to follow.

I like to drive, too. But I find it's more fun with a companion and a fun task to do together. Then there is the group of fun folks in neat cars at the end of the rally. As a matter of fact, I will be competing in this one, driving my WRX.

Nobody likes paperwork, but this is pretty simple. Put in your personal info, and your car info, once, and every rally after that the data is there waiting for you. All you have to do is enter the navigator data after the first time.

Give it a try.

Eighteen cars have registered for the Great Pumpkin Rally. They include 3 Mazdas, 2 Mitsubishis, Hondas, Subarus, Fords (Mustang and Cobra), and Volkswagens. So far, only one Team (Mazda) has formed. Only 1 Mini. Only one Corvette. Only 1 Camaro. Only 2 Subarus! Surprising.

The group is amazingly even in Class distribution, with 6 First-timers, 6 Novices, and 6 General Class cars.

The required Safety Check was performed last weekend, and no problems were found. So take advantage of the promised mild weather, and go to msreg.com/GPR13msr to preregister.

Given that the rally ends at the Festival of Pumpkins, you might want to consider taking the biggest vehicle you have so you can bring the antiques you are going to buy home.
